Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Ethics is important to society; it has an essential and critical role in shaping societal behaviors. It serves as a moral guide to daily living and helps develop moral or ethical values and conduct. The conceptualization of moral values, norms, rules, and moral principles is related to religion and religious beliefs. Although ethics and religion are different and can be independent, they overlap and influence each other. The intersection and overlapping of ethics and religion is a key component of peace. Religion can either promote peace or be a source of conflict and violence. It is interesting to explore how the intersection of ethics and religion can contribute to peacemaking or how differences in ethical perspectives and religious beliefs can cause conflict situations. New and diverse perspectives on these matters can provide a more profound understanding of the essential role of ethics and religion in peacemaking or their interconnections.

This Special Issue will focus on the interconnection of ethics, religion, and peace. The overarching intent is to be as inclusive as possible and welcome papers coming from different cultural, religious, political, and social backgrounds, focusing on topics such as contemporary ethical or moral issues, religious beliefs and practices, the role of religion in the peace process/peace initiatives, the interrelation between ethics and religion and other relevant questions and issues. Authors/contributors may employ their approach—historical account, critical analysis, descriptive or comparative study, etc.—but they are encouraged to relate their papers to the existing literature.
