Dear Colleagues,
Ocean covers more than 70% of the Earth’s surface. It plays an extremely important role in influencing the global climate and ecology. Today, satellite remote sensing is widely used in oceanographic studies. Satellite ocean data can be effectively used to observe sea surface changes at various spatial scales. Ocean products measured by satellites, such as sea surface temperature/salinity, ocean color, sea surface waves, and air–sea interaction, are not only important data for near real-time ocean monitoring, but also for studying changes in the ocean environment and managing ocean resources. With the development and launch of new satellite platforms, ocean remote sensing capabilities will allow research to approach milestones related to ocean state and ocean processes. However, the ocean environment is variable with a wide range of processes interacting in the ocean and co-varying with atmosphere processes. Numerous challenges and unresolved problems related to the development of satellite remote sensing applications remain. The purpose of this Collection is to explore the current state-of-the-art and future developments in the application of satellite remote sensing in oceanography.
Original research articles are solicited over a wide range of topics which may focus on but are not limited to:
- The carbon and water cycle;
- Processes coupling wind, waves, and currents;
- The impacts of sea spray on surface stress, heat and moisture fluxes, and salt fluxes;
- The role of wind, waves and currents on the transport of plastics and marine life;
- Ocean heating, mixing, and atmospheric boundary-layer responses to this coupling.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Remote Sensing is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
