Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to introduce a Special Issue dedicated to the exploration of organizational behavior management (OBM) principles within diverse organizational contexts. We are currently witnessing a surge in the application of behavioral science principles across various social science domains, including economic decision making, crime prevention, well-being, and organizational behavior. However, our understanding of the effectiveness and implications of these principles within organizational contexts remains relatively underexplored compared to other settings. In particular, the domain of organizational behavior in healthcare, leisure organizations, and governmental agencies (e.g., public administration, not-for-profits) can significantly benefit from enhanced research efforts. These efforts can lead to better-informed practices and strategies.

This Special Issue aims to advance our comprehension and extend the application of organizational behavior management (OBM) principles to an array of critical organizational behavior (OB) areas. These areas encompass communication, engagement, diversity, inclusion, individual and collective motivation, team dynamics, and more. While both OBM and OB aim to understand and manage organizational behavior, a significant gap exists in their synergy, especially concerning performance, safety, and culture. Leveraging an organization’s potential for change requires actionable steps to optimize organizational systems and increase vital behaviors.

We welcome submissions featuring conceptual, review, experimental, and applied works. Empirical articles and approaches that emphasize the OBM perspective in conjunction with OB or other organizational behavior approaches are particularly encouraged.

Areas of focus include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Leadership in healthcare;
  • Organizational culture in the public sector;
  • Systems’ analysis of social enterprises;
  • Behavioral safety in organizations.
