Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Housing displacement is a significant global problem extensively examined across various disciplines, including urban studies, sociology, geography, public policy, and real estate studies. At the heart of this scholarship lies a pattern of the involuntary removal of people from their homes. More often than not, housing displacement impacts vulnerable groups of people and can occur in a variety of ways, including financial bankruptcy, natural disaster, war, ethnic persecution, and urban development as well as renewal. While housing displacement remains a global phenomenon, research on the displacement process and its effects on those displaced remains underexplored from critical perspectives. This Special Issue seeks to delve into contemporary forms of housing displacement, examining the inequalities embedded in the displacement process and their far-reaching consequences. Using diverse theoretical frameworks and methodological techniques, we aim to curate a Special Issue that highlights the outcomes of housing displacement on the quality of life of both the humans and communities experiencing displacement.
