Travel Award
Dear Colleagues,
As the chair of Travel Award Evaluation Committee, I am pleased to announce the four winners of the 2019 Travel Awards sponsored by Vaccines. The awards were granted to Mr. Adam Cheng, Ph.D. student of the University of Minnesota, Dr. Carly May Bliss, postdoctoral research fellow of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Mr. Joshua Gillard, Ph.D. student of Radboud University and Dr. Sasha Larsen, postdoctoral research fellow of the Infectious Disease Research Institute. The award recipients will receive 500 Swiss Francs each to support attendance at any academic conference related to vaccine studies in 2019.
The research interests of the awardees are presented below:
- Mr. Adam Cheng: the mechanism of viral reactivation and oncogenesis in immunosuppressed patients.
- Dr. Carly May Bliss: pre-clinical vaccine development for hepatitis C and influenza A, including mouse and rat models of infection, vaccination and virus challenge.
- Mr. Joshua Gillard: human innate immune response to vaccination and controlled human infection.
- Dr. Sasha Larsen: complex biological problems in the specialized fields of bacterial pathogenesis, as well as innate and adaptive immunity.
I would like to congratulate the winners and thank the selection committee for their excellent work in selecting the winners from such a large number of excellent candidate profiles.
