The dissemination and practice of green consumption behavior is an important issue in promoting sustainable development. With the advent of the digital age, social media platforms have become an important channel for promoting green consumption. The expression of language style has become an increasingly important factor influencing consumer attitudes. From the perspective of consumer perception, this study used three situational simulation experiments (n total = 304) to explore the mechanism by which the “Versailles Literature” language style impacts the feelings and behaviors of audiences of the green consumption behavior of the poster, and to examine the mediating roles of ostentation perception and hypocrisy perception. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS. The research findings showed that, compared with “non-Versailles Literature”, this style significantly reduces positive attitudes toward green consumption while increasing perceptions of bragging and hypocrisy. Furthermore, the strength of social ties between the consumer and the poster plays a moderating role in the effect of language style; specifically, when posts come from strangers, consumers perceive a stronger sense of bragging and hypocrisy. The research results will provide practical guidance for individuals and enterprises to effectively promote the concept of green consumption on social media, helping enterprises avoid the negative reactions brought about by conspicuous green consumption behaviors and exaggerated or false promotion of environmental behaviors, such as “greenwashing”. In the low-carbon era, there is a serious challenge of climate change, which urgently needs to promote low-carbon consumption behavior in order to build sustainable low-carbon consumption patterns. The establishment of this model not only requires in-depth theoretical research as support, but also requires tripartite cooperation between the government, enterprises and the public to jointly promote the popularization and practice of the low-carbon consumption concept. Therefore, by constructing a tripartite evolutionary game model and simulation analysis, this study deeply discusses the mechanism of government policy on the strategy choice of logistics enterprises. The stability strategy and satisfying conditions are deeply analyzed by constructing a tripartite evolutionary game model of the logistics industry, government, and consumers. With the help of MATLAB R2023b simulation analysis, the following key conclusions are drawn: (1) The strategic choice of logistics enterprises is affected by various government policies, including research and development intensity, construction intensity, and punishment intensity. These government policies and measures guide logistics enterprises toward low-carbon development. (2) The government’s research, development, and punishment intensity are vital in determining whether logistics enterprises adopt low-carbon strategies. R&D efforts incentivize logistics companies to adopt low-carbon technologies by driving technological innovation and reducing costs. The penalties include economic sanctions to restrain companies that do not comply with low-carbon standards. In contrast, construction intensity mainly affects the consumption behavior of consumers and then indirectly affects the strategic choice of logistics enterprises through market demand. (3) Although the government’s active supervision is a necessary guarantee for logistics enterprises to implement low-carbon strategies, more is needed. This means that in addition to the government’s policy support, it also needs the active efforts of the logistics enterprises themselves and the improvement of the market mechanism to promote the low-carbon development of the logistics industry jointly. This study quantifies the impact of different factors on the system’s evolution, providing a precise decision-making basis for policymakers and helping promote the logistics industry’s and consumers’ low-carbon transition. It also provides theoretical support for the logistics industry’s low-carbon development and green low-carbon consumption and essential guidance for sustainable development. Full article

To address the issue of excessive pessimism caused by demand and supply uncertainties in the green hydrogen supply chain, this study develops a two-tier green hydrogen supply chain model comprising upstream hydrogen production stations and downstream hydrogen refueling stations. This research work investigates optimal ordering and production strategies under stochastic demand and supply conditions. Additionally, option contracts are introduced to share the risks associated with the stochastic output of green hydrogen. This study shows the following: (1) Under decentralized decision-making, the optimal ordering quantity when the hydrogen refueling station is excessively pessimistic is not necessarily lower than the optimal ordering quantity when it is in a rational state, and hydrogen production stations will only operate when the degree of excessive pessimism is relatively low. (2) The initial option ordering quantity is always larger than the minimum execution quantity under the option contract; higher first-order option prices and lower second-order option prices can help to increase the initial option ordering quantity. (3) The option contract is effective in circumventing the negative impact of excessive pessimism at hydrogen production stations on planned production quantities. This study addresses the gap in the existing research regarding excessively pessimistic behaviors and the application of option contracts within the green hydrogen supply chain, providing both theoretical insights and practical guidance for decision-making optimization. This advancement further promotes the sustainable development of the green hydrogen industry. Full article

Stormwater pollution from residual chlorine after outdoor disinfection with sodium hypochlorite is an increasing environmental challenge due to its potential negative impact on aquatic ecosystems. Even at low concentrations, residual chlorine can disrupt the stability of water ecosystems. In this regard, stormwater treatment requires innovative and green solutions such as green infrastructure (rain gardens) using the plant phytoremediation technique to reduce the amount of residual chlorine. This study explores the interactions between residual chlorine retained by plants in a rain garden and different microelements. Selected plants were analyzed via spectroscopy, and possible interactions with elements such as chlorine (Cl), phosphorus (P), zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), calcium (Ca), potassium (K), nickel (Ni), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), magnesium (Mg), chromium (Cr), and cadmium (Cd) were determined using Python-based analysis. Chlorine presented significant positive correlations with cadmium (0.39–0.53) and potassium (0.51–0.55), while negative correlations were found between silicon and chlorine (−0.48–−0.54) and chlorine and iron (−0.45–−0.51). The correlations between chlorine and microelements suggest both common uptake mechanisms and mutual interactions. These results provide a better understanding of the behavior of chlorine in rain gardens and its interactions with other materials, which is especially valuable for designing green infrastructure. This research can help to develop sustainable solutions that reduce environmental pollution and strengthen urban adaptation to climate change. Full article

Sustainability is vital to engineering education, requiring future engineers to integrate technological advancements with environmental responsibility. This study explores the relationship between sustainability awareness, pro-environmental behavior, and environmental attitudes among engineering students at Shaqra University, Saudi Arabia. The findings indicate that, while students possess moderate sustainability awareness, their engagement in eco-friendly actions remains limited, despite expressing positive environmental attitudes. Civil Engineering students and those in later academic years show higher awareness, emphasizing the role of departmental focus and academic progression. Correlation analysis reveals a strong link between awareness and behavior (r = 0.628 and p < 0.001), yet multiple regression suggests that neither academic year nor department uniquely predicts sustainable actions once awareness is accounted for. Moreover, while pro-environmental attitudes correlate with behavior in bivariate analysis, their impact diminishes in regression, suggesting that positive environmental values do not necessarily translate into consistent green habits. ANOVA results confirm higher awareness among Civil Engineering students, though differences in sustainable behavior are subtle. These findings highlight the need for curricular reforms that integrate sustainability through experiential learning, bridging the gap between awareness and real-world actions. This study supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by promoting environmental awareness and aligning education with labor market needs. It offers tools to help stakeholders and policymakers develop competitive, future-ready generations. Full article

As climate change continues to endanger a sustainable global condition, a growing literature investigates how to pursue green practices to fight its effects. Individuals are the essential starting point for such bottom-up attempts, with their attitudes towards sustainability driving pro-environmental behaviors (PEBs). Objectives: Based on the available relevant literature, this scoping review aims to delve into the processes underlying people’s sustainable decision-making (SDM) associated with PEBs. Methods: A scientific literature search was performed through (a) an active database search and (b) the identification of studies via reference and citation tracking. Results were screened and selected in Rayyan. Results: Included articles (n = 30) heterogeneously reported cognitive and neural aspects of SDM shaping PEBs. These proved to (a) recruit brain areas involved in mentalizing and moral cognition (likely because of their role in processing the interplay between personal and contextual factors rather than moral considerations in themselves); (b) undergo the same modulatory influences shaping other kinds of prosocial/cooperative behaviors; and (c) include brain areas involved in attentional/monitoring and emotional/motivational processes, alongside those consistently associated with decision-making processes. Conclusions: These results help interpret the available evidence on the neuro-cognitive bases of SDM while focusing on potential interventions to foster better practices and mitigate the adverse repercussions of climate change on human and global health. As an important part of green building, green housing (GH) has become a strategic priority in many countries. However, the market share of GH remains limited due to conflicting interests and divergent strategic choices among stakeholders. To address this challenge, various low-carbon policy tools, such as financial subsidies (FS), carbon taxes (CT), and carbon emissions trading (CET), have been introduced. Despite these efforts, the influence of low-carbon policies on stakeholders’ strategies remains inadequately understood. This study aims to bridge this research gap by constructing an evolutionary game model that incorporates the government, developers, and consumers while considering relevant policy factors. The model identifies evolutionary stable strategies (ESS) for each stakeholder. Then, based on MATLAB 2021b, several simulations are carried out for initial, development, mature, and stable stage. The simulation results show the dynamic changes in stakeholder behavior over time. This study also analyzes how key parameters affect the system’s evolution and puts forward suggestions from each stakeholder’s perspective. The results show that (1) consumer subsidies are more effective than those for developers. (2) Subsidies for developers cause more significant financial pressure on governments than subsidies for consumers. (3) The CET policy helps developers adopt GH more quickly. (4) Proper CT promotes developers to make greener choices. (5) Reducing the difference between green and traditional housing supports the stable development of the GHM. This study offers theoretical insights to guide stakeholder decision-making and provides practical recommendations for government aiming to play a role in fostering GHM development. Full article

The green behaviors of engineering project designers can improve the green performance of engineering projects. Moral factors are likely to influence designers’ behavior related to green design. Therefore, this study takes mindfulness leadership as a new antecedent of green behavior and explores how mindfulness leadership influences the green behaviors of designers. Based on social cognitive theory, this study proposes that mindfulness leadership stimulates the designers to exhibit green behaviors. Then, this study used a survey design and adopted partial least squares structural equation modeling to examine the hypotheses. The results indicate that mindfulness leadership is positively associated with green voice behavior (β = 0.313), green knowledge-sharing behavior (β = 0.281), and green helping behavior (β = 0.353). Moreover, moral identity mediates the main effect (βa = 0.131, βb = 0.147, βc = 0.169). These quantitative findings substantiate that mindfulness leadership can effectively motivate designers to provide eco-conscious solutions, share sustainability knowledge, and collaborate on green improvements. The study equips project managers with evidence-based strategies to cultivate moral identity and leadership practices that systematically enhance environmental performance in engineering design contexts. This paper focuses on the stability issues of geological and engineering structures and conducts research from two perspectives: the mechanism of slope landslides under micro-seismic action and the cyclic failure behavior of concrete materials. In terms of slope stability, through the combination of model tests and theories, the cumulative effect of circulating micro-seismic waves on the internal damage of slopes was revealed. This research finds that the coupling of micro-vibration stress and static stress significantly intensifies the stress concentration on the slope, promotes the development of potential sliding surfaces and the extension of joints, and provides a scientific basis for the prediction of landslide disasters. This helps protect mountain ecosystems and reduce soil erosion and vegetation destruction. The number of cyclic loads has a power function attenuation relationship with the compressive strength of concrete. After 1200 cycles, the strength drops to 20.5 MPa (loss rate 48.8%), and the number of cracks increases from 2.7 per mm3 to 34.7 per mm3 (an increase of 11.8 times). Damage evolution is divided into three stages: linear growth, accelerated expansion, and critical failure. The influence of load amplitude on the number of cracks shows a threshold effect. A high amplitude (>0.5 g) significantly stimulates the propagation of intergranular cracks in the mortar matrix, and the proportion of intergranular cracks increases from 12% to 65%. Grey correlation analysis shows that the number of cycles dominates the strength attenuation (correlation degree 0.87), and the load amplitude regulates the crack initiation efficiency more significantly (correlation degree 0.91). These research results can optimize the design of concrete structures, enhance the durability of the project, and indirectly reduce the resource consumption and environmental burden caused by structural damage. Both studies are supported by numerical simulation and experimental verification, providing theoretical support for disaster prevention and control and sustainable engineering practices and contributing to ecological environment risk management and the development of green building materials. Major public health events pose a huge challenge to the sustainable improvement of city dwellers’ ecological well-being, hindering the achievement of urban ecological construction goals. In the context of resilient city and all-aged friendly city construction, age factor is given special consideration in urban green space management to meet the heterogeneous demands and preferences of city dwellers for urban ecological benefit. However, young, middle-age and elderly city dwellers’ utilization of urban green spaces during different periods of pandemic are poorly known. Meanwhile, insufficient discussion on the differences in ecological well-being contributions of different types of urban green spaces has led to difficulties in effectively connecting urban green space management planning with the city dwellers’ demands for ecological well-being. To help fill this gap, this study utilizes field study data on urban ecological construction and urban landscape and greening in Beijing from 2019 to 2023 to analyze the evolution and differences in utilization behaviors of urban green space among different age group city dwellers. Furthermore, this study applies the ordinary least square regression model (OLS) to explore the differences in the impact of various types of urban green space on the ecological well-being of city dwellers. The results revealed significant age effects in the utilization of urban green space during 2019–2023. It outlines the increased time spent in urban green space by younger city dwellers. In addition, the results demonstrated that the utilization behavior of park green space has a significant positive impact on the ecological well-being level of city dwellers, and the impact of utilization behavior on the ecological well-being level of city dwellers varies depending on the type of green space. Compared with community green space, the impact of park green space utilization behavior on the ecological well-being level of city dwellers is more significant. The conclusion from the main urban area of this Beijing case study contributes to the international discussion on urban green space management and urban green resilience governance in metropolitan areas worldwide as they add additional insights on the change and difference in the utilization behavior of urban green spaces, particularly looking at elderly, middle-aged and young city dwellers as well as the importance of a timely response to the heterogeneity preference of city dwellers’ ecological well-being demand. In the new media era, the green technology alliance with multi-participation has emerged as a powerful contributor to achieving the strategic goal of a green economy. Therefore, this paper constructs a stochastic evolutionary game model of green technology innovation led by the government under an uncertain environment and jointly promoted by enterprises, universities, and research institutes. Then, this study firstly explores the influence of different factors on evolutionary equilibrium and secondly discusses the role of main factors on the behavior strategies of each game subject. Furthermore, numerical simulation analysis using Matlab R2019a 9.6 will be used to prove the model’s validity. The research has shown (1) that media monitoring positively impacts the stability of the alliance and that product greenness can further accelerate alliance evolution when media monitoring is in place. When this factor is small, it will lead to the transformation of Industry-University-Research’s (IUR) optimal strategy into non-cooperation in the early stage. (2) The green degree of products positively affects the decision-making choice of the IUR, but it is not the case for the government. And the role of media supervision will further coordinate its influence and accelerate the evolution of alliances. (3) The enhancement of media monitoring capacity can encourage game subjects to evolve in a more beneficial way. In addition, the implementation of media supervision will help reduce the cost of government supervision and provide reputation benefits. The research fully accounts for the complexity and variability of the environment, and the results provide theoretical support and practical advice for the high-quality development of the green technology innovation alliance. As an ecologically fragile and agriculture-dominated region in China, the Tibetan area is in urgent need of green transformation. Based on the survey data of 59 farmers in 16 villages in Hezuo City, this paper empirically examines the influencing factors and decision-making logic of the green production behaviors of farmers in Hezuo City using the Double Hurdle model and the moderated model, and the results show the following: (1) Cognitive norms and environmental regulations are the key elements determining the green production intentions and behavioral responses of farmers, and the driving effect of cognitive norms on behavioral response shows a declining trend in comparison with behavioral intention. Compared with behavioral intention, the effect of cognitive norms on behavioral response showed a downward trend. (2) The consistency between group social cognition and green production cognition significantly influences the behavioral intentions and behavioral responses of farmers regarding green production in Hezuo City. This is conducive to promoting farmers’ intentions to engage in and their continuous response to green production. (3) The role of environmental regulation in enhancing green production intention and behavioral response is more consistent and significant. However, it cannot continuously promote a green production response by influencing green production intention again. The green development strategy can help to align farmers’ cognitive and behavioral responses to green production. It is recommended that the government use environmental regulation as the primary means of driving the current green transformation in Tibetan areas. Full article

Amid escalating ecological concerns and regulatory pressures, firms are adopting environmental sustainability commitments to enhance competitiveness and fulfill social responsibilities. However, the internal mechanisms linking these commitments to environmental performance remain insufficiently explored. This study investigates how corporate environmental sustainability commitments improve environmental performance by integrating the Planned Behavior Theory and Organizational Change Theory. Using structural equation modeling with 324 firm-level responses, we identify a chain mediation pathway. Results indicate that environmental sustainability commitment positively influences corporate environmental performance through the chain-mediating effects of green readiness and green opportunity identification and exploitation. By extending the Technology–Organization–Environment (TOE) framework, we delineate three dimensions of green readiness, showing that organization readiness exhibits the strongest mediating role. This study advances theoretical understanding by mapping the pathway from sustainability intentions to performance through internal capabilities and actions. Practically, it helps firms systematically align environmental and economic goals while avoiding greenwashing risks. Full article

Green management innovation meets the requirements of sustainable development and is conducive to achieving an organic unity of economic, social, and ecological benefits for enterprises. Based on the peer effects theory, this study constructs a fixed-effects model to empirically analyze the existence, action mechanism, moderation, and heterogeneity of peer effects on green management innovation behavior using panel data from listed Chinese companies from 2012 to 2022. The results indicate that peer effects significantly positively impact green management innovation, and the robustness test verifies the results in various ways. Furthermore, the mechanisms of peer effects from the perspectives of information learning and competition have been explored in this study. Specifically, peer effects are more likely to be promoted when enterprises possess a greater capacity for information acquisition, higher environmental uncertainty, and stronger environmental regulations. Notably, the peer effect of green management innovation is more significant for enterprises that face higher financing constraints, are in non-heavily polluting industries, and are supported by industrial policies. This study not only helps clarify the potential real motivation of corporate green management innovation but also provides strong empirical evidence for developing relevant policies and regulations. Retailing strategy can be considered as the most critical factor for the success of industries. Managing deteriorating products in retail demands a strategic approach aimed at mitigating losses while maximizing profitability. This entails a proactive stance towards identifying products nearing expiration, becoming obsolete or showing signs of deterioration. Offering discounts or promotions can stimulate consumer interest and clear out inventory. The promotion of products within the context of retail management involves a multifaceted approach aimed at increasing awareness, generating interest, and ultimately driving sales. Sustainability helps retailers to develop social as well as economic consistency. Every country and their respective governments are currently working towards sustainable development. New technologies in this direction have been introduced. The present paper introduces a retailing model considering green technology as it is becoming popular to lower environmental risks. The items considered in this study are perishable in nature. As product prices and the promotion of products highly influence demand, a demand pattern dependent on price and promotion is therefore considered. This paper presents a sustainable retail-based inventory model that considers preservation technology to lower the rate of deterioration and increase product shelf life. As carbon emissions is currently the biggest threat to the environment, enforcing a penalty may lower its emissions. Carbon emissions costs due to storage, transportation, and preservation are considered herein. This model studies the effect of various cost parameters on the model. A numerical analysis is performed to validate the result. The results of this study show that the implementation of preservation technology not only increases cycle time but also significantly reduces total cost, hence increasing profit. Sensitivity analysis is performed to show the behaviors of different cost parameters on total cost and decision variables. Mathematica 11 and Maple 18 software are used for graphical representation.
