Background: The off-season is often characterized by a significant decrease or even a complete cessation of training. If this reduction is not planned properly, it can result in detraining. Despite numerous studies examining the effects of HIIT in football players, its specific role in mitigating detraining and maintaining aerobic and anaerobic performance during the off-season in adolescent female football players remains underexplored. Therefore, this study evaluated the effects of a 4-week off-season high-intensity training (HIIT) program on aerobic performance level and sprint endurance ability in Under-15 (U-15) female football players. Methods: Fifteen U-15 female football players from a professional club completed an experimental protocol consisting of two HIIT formats: Small-Sided Games (SSGs) and Repeated Sprint Training (RST), each performed twice weekly. Before and after the intervention period, participants performed the Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Level 1 (YYIR1) test to gauge aerobic performance and the 30-seconds sprint test to assess sprint endurance. The internal training load was monitored via heart rate (HR) and blood lactate concentration ([La]+), while external training load metrics included the total distance (TD), moderate-speed distance (MSD), high-speed distance (HSD), acceleration distance (≥3 m·s−2; ACC), and deceleration distance (≤−3 m·s−2; DEC). Results: YYIR1 improved by 57% (p = 0.0001; d = 1.12; 95% CI: 121.94–224.71) and the 30-s test performance increased by 13% (p = 0.004; d = 0.91; and 95% CI: 14.46–25.53) following the intervention period. A very large correlation between time spent at 90–95% HRmax and the 30-s test (r = 0.90, p = 0.0001) and YYIR1 (r = 0.81, p = 0.0001) performance was observed. Very large and nearly perfect correlations between DHS and YYIR1 (r = 0.82, p = 0.0001) and the 30-s test performance (r = 0.94, p = 0.0001), respectively, were found. Conclusions: In U-15 female football players, a four-week off-season HIIT program improved both aerobic performance and sprint endurance ability, indicating that a HIIT regime attenuates the off-season detraining, thus supporting a better-conditioned return to play. Coaches may implement 4-week high-intensity off-season programs to enhance aerobic performance and start the pre-season with a satisfactory level of aerobic fitness and sprint endurance. Full article

(1) Background: Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) is one of the two gold-standard tools for assessing oropharyngeal dysphagia (alongside Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Study). Although generally considered safe, concerns about complications persist, particularly in systems where FEES is not routine and professional roles differ. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety of FEES performed by both speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and physicians, in order to provide evidence of its safety in a healthcare system where the procedure is not yet widely established and to identify patient subgroups potentially at higher risk of procedure-related complications. (2) Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 964 consecutive FEES procedures. Examinations were carried out by trained SLPs or physicians. Data included demographics, clinical status, operator qualifications, setting, and complications, classified as minor (vomiting, poor tolerance, early termination) or major (laryngospasm, epistaxis). (3) Results: The overall complication rate was 1.14% (11/964): 0.6% minor and 0.5% major. All events were self-limiting. Complication rates did not differ between SLPs (1.05%) and physicians (1.23%) or by experience, setting, drug use, penetration–aspiration scale score, or nasogastric tube. Four complications occurred in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients, suggesting higher risk. (4) Conclusions: FEES is safe and well tolerated when performed by either physicians or SLPs. These findings underscore the value of task sharing in dysphagia diagnostics, demonstrating that a shared model increases service capacity, reduces delays, and facilitates timely management of dysphagia. Background: The digital transition is reshaping healthcare systems through the adoption of telemedicine and electronic health records (EHRs). While these innovations enhance efficiency and access, their implementation unfolds within overstretched organizational settings characterized by workforce shortages, bureaucratic demands, and heightened psychosocial risks. Burnout, impostor syndrome, and the quality of organizational support have thus become pivotal constructs in understanding healthcare professionals’ digital preparedness. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey was conducted among 111 professionals employed at two San Donato Group facilities in Bologna, Italy. The battery included socio-demographic and occupational data, perceptions of digitalization, and validated instruments: the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), the Clance Impostor Phenomenon Scale (CIPS), and the Work Organization Assessment Questionnaire (WOAQ). Descriptive analyses were complemented by Classification and Regression Trees (CART) to identify predictors of perceived digital preparedness. Results: Most respondents (88%) acknowledged the relevance of digitalization, yet 18% felt unprepared, especially women and administrative staff. Burnout levels were high, with 51% reporting emotional exhaustion, most notably among nurses and female participants. Impostor syndrome affected 43% of the sample, with nurses exhibiting the highest prevalence. CART analysis identified emotional exhaustion, impostor syndrome, and age as principal discriminators of digital preparedness. Conclusions: Our findings highlight the role of emotional exhaustion, impostor syndrome, and age in shaping perceived digital preparedness, underscoring the need for tailored training and supportive practices to ensure a sustainable digital transition. Vocational education and training (VET) plays a vital role in sustaining labour market competitiveness and supporting social cohesion, with vocational instructors holding a decisive role in transmitting occupational expertise and shaping the professional identity of future skilled workers. Although teacher motivation and professional identity have been widely examined, relatively little attention has been devoted to the role of personal resources in the education of vocational instructors. This study addresses this gap by analysing four cohorts of vocational instructor trainees at a Hungarian university between 2021 and 2024 (N = 221). Data were collected using the Values in Action (VIA) Inventory of Strengths, which measures 24 character strengths across six virtues, and analysed through descriptive statistics, cohort comparisons, correlation tests, and principal component analysis. The findings revealed a consistent profile dominated by fairness, kindness, love of learning, teamwork, and perseverance, reflecting a combination of ethical commitment, interpersonal sensitivity, intellectual curiosity, and resilience. Cohort-level comparisons indicated minor variations, such as stronger teamwork in 2022 and higher love of learning in 2023, while the correlation and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) confirmed that strengths clustered into broader constellations largely consistent with Peterson and Seligman’s six virtues. These results underscore the relevance of a strengths-based approach in vocational instructor education by showing how existing resources can support identity development, resilience, and long-term professional commitment, and point to the need for future longitudinal and multi-institutional studies. The political participation of marginalized young people has gained increasing attention in both research and policy. This study examines the role of funding programs as meso-level infrastructures that mediate political strategies and local practice, aiming to strengthen the political participation of marginalized young people. Drawing on desk research and two expert focus groups at national and European levels, it explores how such programs can be designed to effectively reach and support young people who have not yet participated, or have only rarely participated, in political processes. The analysis focuses on four key dimensions: (1) conceptual frameworks and contextual factors, (2) the positioning of programs within broader structures and cross-sectoral strategies, (3) the inherent logic of administrative structures, and (4) programs’ responsiveness to the needs of practitioners and young people. Results show that finding answers to the question of how programs need to be designed in order to better promote the political participation of marginalized young people, cannot be obtained by looking exclusively at the program level but require an analysis of the relationships to the macro- (political strategies, concepts, structural changes) and the micro-level (implementation practices in projects by professionals and young people). The findings highlight the critical mediating role of programs as both a bridge and a lever between policymakers and young people/professionals in shaping access, and identify several enabling factors: moving beyond deficit-oriented narratives, strengthening bottom-up feedback mechanisms, increasing flexibility and support in administrative procedures, and recognizing the importance of local infrastructures. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of the implementation dynamics at the meso-level and underlines the need for long-term, coherent, coordinated, and context-sensitive approaches in youth participation policy. Blockchain technology has become a game changer in sectors like accounting and auditing. Its usage is still restricted due to a lack of insight into what drives people to adopt it for financial services like accounting and auditing. This research delves into the factors that influence the adoption of blockchain systems in accounting and auditing services by utilizing an enhanced edition of the Theory of Planned Behavior. In this study, alongside the previously established elements like Attitude, subjective norm, and Perceived Behavioral Control, self-perception and personal moral values are included to reflect how identity and ethics impact decision-making processes. Data were gathered via an online survey (N = 751) conducted on the Prolific platform, and the hypotheses were tested using Structural Equation Modeling. The hypotheses were examined through the Structural Equation Modeling method. The findings indicate that each of the five predictors plays a significant role in influencing Behavioral Intention, with personal moral values being the influential factor followed by subjective norm and Perceived Behavioral Control. Attitude plays an important role in shaping adoption choices and showcases the complexity involved in such decisions. As such, it is crucial to take into account ethical factors when encouraging the use of blockchain technology. This study adds to the existing knowledge of the Theory of Planned Behavior framework, offering insights for companies aiming to boost the implementation of blockchain systems in professional settings. Future research avenues and real-world implications are explored with an emphasis placed on developing targeted strategies that align technological adoption with personal values and organizational objectives. This study reports on a Design-Based Research (DBR) project that implemented Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in an undergraduate psychology course on Human Resource Development (HRD). The purpose was to move beyond lecture-based instruction and explore how open pedagogy can create authentic, student-centered learning experiences that bridge theory and practice. Over two course iterations (n = 31), students co-designed, implemented, and evaluated HRD interventions for their peers, supported by peer and instructor feedback and complemented by a co-created open-book exam. Quantitative pre- and post-tests revealed significant improvements in students’ knowledge of HRD methods, learning theories, and application competencies, as well as enhanced confidence in their professional qualifications. Students valued the openness of the design, its practical orientation, and the error-friendly learning environment, though challenges emerged regarding workload, communication, and intrinsic motivation. Educators reported a transformation of their role from knowledge transmitter to facilitator and co-learner, while also identifying opportunities to use AI for generating authentic case tasks. The findings suggest that PjBL, combined with open pedagogy, fosters self-directed learning, transparency, and collaboration, thereby contributing to cultural change in higher education toward openness, participation, and innovation. Traditional shipping in Indonesia, known as Pelra (Pelayaran Rakyat), plays an important role in connecting the archipelago and supporting inter-island economic activities. However, this sector faces significant challenges due to the low competency levels of human resources, particularly among ship crews. The examination system, including mechanisms and competency standards for traditional shipping crews, has not been updated for the past three decades, while shipping technology has advanced considerably. This study analyzes the competency levels of Pelra ship crews in South Sulawesi, focusing on certification compliance, technical proficiency, and navigational skills. Both quantitative and qualitative approaches were applied, utilizing Spearman correlation and gap analysis to assess crew competency levels. The findings indicate that engine crews face difficulties in meeting certification requirements for Chief Engineer and Motorman positions, while deck crews struggle to fulfill crewing demands as the vessel size increases. Engine crew competencies remain weak in engine maintenance, repair, and installation, whereas deck crews show limitations in compass use, seamanship, and understanding currents and tides. These gaps negatively affect technical performance, safety, and operational efficiency. The study highlights the urgent need for a revised training system, an updated technical curriculum aligned with industry demands, and adaptive policies harmonized with national competency standards to strengthen professionalism and competitiveness in the traditional shipping industry. The formation of an emotional bond with young people’s parents is crucial for healthy development and serves as a model for future relationships. Disruptions to this bond can result in neurobiological consequences, manifesting as problematic behaviours and social deficits. Social-educational work in re-education facilities in Slovakia focuses on supporting and rehabilitating young people in conflict with the law, aiming for their reintegration into society. This study presents a qualitative analysis of social workers’ activities across 11 re-education facilities in Slovakia, utilizing semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and field observation. The findings reveal that social workers play an indispensable role in the re-education and resocialization process, providing emotional support, professional counselling, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. Despite differences in client typology and methodologies among facilities, a shared emphasis exists on restoring social ties and personal development. The effectiveness of social work is influenced by adequate staffing, methodological support, and inter-ministerial cooperation. Implementing targeted recommendations could significantly enhance the effectiveness of the system and improve outcomes for children and young people in institutional care. This study contributes vital insights into how social workers must balance competing interests—such as individual therapeutic needs, institutional constraints, and family and community involvement—to successfully facilitate youth reintegration into society. This study investigates the utilisation of AI tools, including Grammarly Free, QuillBot Free, Canva Free Individual, and others, to enhance learning outcomes for 180 s-year telecommunications engineering students at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. This research incorporates teaching methods like problem-based learning, experiential learning, task-based learning, and content–language integrated learning, with English as the medium of instruction. These tools were strategically used to enhance language skills, foster computational thinking, and promote critical problem-solving. A control group comprising 120 students who did not receive AI support was included in the study for comparative analysis. The control group’s role was essential in evaluating the impact of AI tools on learning outcomes by providing a baseline for comparison. The results indicated that the pilot group, utilising AI tools, demonstrated superior performance compared to the control group in listening comprehension (98.79% vs. 90.22%) and conceptual understanding (95.82% vs. 84.23%). These findings underscore the significance of these skills in enhancing communication and problem-solving abilities within the field of engineering. The assessment of the pilot course’s forum revealed a progression from initially error-prone and brief responses to refined, evidence-based reflections in participants. This evolution in responses significantly contributed to the high success rate of 87% in conducting complex contextual analyses by pilot course participants. Subsequent to these results, a project for educational innovation aims to implement the AI-PBL-CLIL model at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid from 2025 to 2026. Future research should look into adaptive AI systems for personalised learning and study the long-term effects of AI integration in higher education. Furthermore, collaborating with industry partners can significantly enhance the practical application of AI-based methods in engineering education. These strategies facilitate benchmarking against international standards, provide structured support for skill development, and ensure the sustained retention of professional competencies, ultimately elevating the international recognition of Spain’s engineering education. (1) Background: With the increasing incidence of cancer, the need for handling cytotoxic drugs has also grown. However, manipulating these drugs exposes healthcare professionals to significant risks, including occupational exposure to hazardous chemicals. Therefore, it is important to adopt protective measures, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and correct ergonomic practices, to ensure safe drug preparation and minimize health risks for the operators. However, while chemical exposure and PPE have been extensively addressed in the literature, the combined impact of ergonomic practices and protective measures remains insufficiently emphasized, representing a critical gap this review aims to address. Accordingly, the objective of this literature review was to analyze the ergonomic and individual protection practices during the handling of cytostatic drugs and all the implications that bad ergonomic practices and/or poor individual protection have on the operator’s health; (2) Methods: In order to perform this integrative review, a structured literature search was conducted using online databases (Web of Science®, Google Scholar®, and PubMed®) from January 2005 to June 2025. (3) Results: A total of 19 articles were analyzed, with 17 focusing on PPE and 17 on ergonomics. The findings emphasize that PPE, such as gloves, masks, gowns, sleeves and safety glasses, plays a critical role in the safe handling of cytotoxic drugs, particularly when combined with other safety measures. Additionally, maintaining correct ergonomic posture is important in preventing musculoskeletal disorders; (4) Conclusions: This review emphasizes the significance of integrating appropriate PPE use with sound ergonomic procedures. Although PPE is still the secondary line of defense against occupational exposure, ergonomic issues must also be addressed to avoid chronic musculoskeletal problems. Continuous training, rigorous attention to safety procedures, and ergonomic enhancements should be prioritized by healthcare facilities as a key element of occupational safety programs to reduce the short-term and long-term health hazards for personnel handling dangerous drugs. The influential role of mentors in undergraduate research experiences (UREs) is of the utmost importance. This study examined the differences between cohorts among engineering undergraduate students who participated in a one-year research-focused program at a Hispanic-serving institution (HSI). The study’s purpose was to gain insight into the mentors’ influence on students’ learning by assessing different cohorts as well as the acquisition of social, professional, technical, and research skills. With a mixed-methods approach, undergraduate students responded to surveys and participated in one-on-one interviews describing the relationships with their mentors. Results indicated differences by cohort in three areas: research understanding in engineering, professional and social skills, and research skills, with students from cohort three scoring lower than the other cohorts in all three sections. Students from the third cohort found gaps and limitations in the mentoring, while students from the other cohorts described benefits and gains with mentors sharing personal, academic, and professional experiences. Students expressed a stronger connection with their mentors when mentors showed accessibility, availability, knowledge, and willingness to support students. Institutional programs should be aware of the essential role mentors play in creating a welcoming and positive climate for students that could ultimately change students’ decisions about their career plans. The adoption of artificial intelligence has risen, yet research on its impact on innovation processes between actual businesses remains sparse. This research fills the present gap by investigating ten workers from a tech startup who utilize artificial intelligence tools in operational and creative activities. The paper analyzes business-related AI functionality through a qualitative analysis of ten tech start-up employees. The examination reveals that AI produces significant enhancements in problem resolution by executing mundane actions while analyzing large datasets to deliver data-driven suggestions to users. The interview respondents mentioned that AI’s role in diminishing supply chains is 15%, while allowing AI to manage customer service without employee engagement in 80% of interactions. The implementation costs, along with data dependency and occasional contextual blindness in AI systems, represented some of the problems in this system. Analysis demonstrated that AI tools enable the development of innovative concepts and challenge established viewpoints, prompting participants to create a gamified loyalty system and dynamic content planning. Participants in the study emphasized the need for human involvement to refine AI-based insights, recognizing how human imagination complements AI capabilities effectively. The work enhances academic discussions about AI-related problem-solving and creativity while offering specific business-related recommendations for implementation. The recommendations begin with establishing initial experimental programs, while providing support for employee’s skills development, and fostering strong alliances between technical AI personnel and professional subject matter experts. Research topics focused on AI application fields and the anticipated impacts on company decision-making, as well as the ethical ramifications, need further exploration. This research confirms the revolutionary potential of artificial intelligence systems for problem-solving methods, but requires proper execution, along with human supervision, to fully realize their advantages.
