Open access publications are eminent in modern research, which should be accessible to everyone. In my opinion, MDPI is the leading publisher in this regard, since they fully commit to the idea of open access. My first publication process was pleasant overall until after the review process. After that, the publishing process and proofreading were somewhat unsatisfying, but the result speaks for itself.

I had a nice experience with MDPI (Sustainability journal). The process from initial submission to final acceptance was very fast and effective. The communication with the editorial staff for any question at every step of the process and the speed of the review process was fantastic. The review was found to be rigorous, of quality, and based on merit. I will recommend MDPI to my colleagues and consider MDPI for publication in the future when I get funding to cover the APC. I have very recently withdrawn one paper from Sustainability due to a lack of funds to cover the APC. We researchers in Ethiopia are often so poorly supported that we are unable to afford APC, and I would like to take this opportunity to kindly request our government, funders, and donors play their part by investing in research and supporting researchers with grants for research and APCs.
