Managing Business Transformations During Uncertain Times: Blue Economy, Carbon-Neutral Tourism and Circular Coastal Value Chains
Topic Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Topic aims to advance the scholarly and practical understanding of how organisations, destinations, and entrepreneurial ecosystems operating in and around coastal and marine environments are adapting their business models to remain competitive, resilient, and sustainable during a period of widespread uncertainty (e.g., climate shocks, pandemics, geopolitical tensions, financial volatility). We focus on blue economy sectors (e.g., tourism, fisheries, shipping, renewable ocean energy, coastal manufacturing, and creative industries), highlighting pathways toward carbon-neutral/net-zero tourism, as well as upcycled product innovation that delivers simultaneous environmental, social, and economic value.
This Topic encourages cross-disciplinary dialogues that bridge management, environmental science, engineering, economics, public policy, marketing, and cultural studies. Submissions should offer actionable insights for academics, practitioners, and policymakers aiming to steer blue economy transformations toward inclusive prosperity and planetary health.
Authors may draw on single-site explorations, multi-country comparative analyses, or global syntheses; perspectives from both developed and developing countries are welcome.
