Reviewer 2 Report

The authors present a benchmark analysis of three models for numerical modeling of river morphological change considering secondary flow effects using a target reach in Yangtze river in China. The manuscript is well-prepared with an appropriate content flow and in a correct format. The main concern would be the major novelty and/or contribution is unclear in the present manuscript. The authors are suggested to elaborate more details of the novelty of their research work. Some other minor comments are listed as below:

1) In equations, please add the definition of J and g.

2) in Line 125, what is relation between the variable of u with a vector hat with U and V?

3) in Line 159, for a better reading flow, please move f_sn(beta) and f_nn(beta) to the end of this paragraph to connect with the following equations of (7) to (11).

4) In Figure 2, please add longitude and latitude information in the map. Also, the river shape in the inlet figure seems not matching with the larger map. The authors are suggested to modify the figure for better and clear demonstration.

5) In Figures 4 and 8, the label of y-axis is not standard. The unit is better written using a brackets. Please use a formal presentation.

6) Finally, the authors are suggested to check and revise some minor typos or grammatical errors.

Round 2

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript is the revised one of water-524934. The authors have made great efforts on revision appropriately addressing the comments and suggestions of the first review. Obviously the revised manuscript is in a better form and content. At this stage I have no more comments on the revised manuscript.
