Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript entitled “The Genomic Features and Genes Related to Pathogenicity and Mycoparasitism of Cladobotryum dendroides Caused Cobweb Disease on Edible Mushrooms” reports a high-quality genome sequencing and its further analysis. It is an instrumental approach that has generated a useful tool for other researchers in the field of fungi-fungi interactions. Therefore, I suggest publication in its present form, with only a mayor call of attention on the usage of English, grammar and typographic error.

These are only a few examples as a warning to revise the whole manuscript:

Response to Reviewer 1:

Thank you for your comments. We have improved the overall English language of the manuscript. Our answers to your points are as follows.

Point: A mayor call of attention on the usage of English, grammar and typographic error.

Response: We are sorry for these errors. We have revised the whole manuscriptas suggested. The answers of the ten details are as follows.

  1. Line 21 “consisted of”

Thank you. We have changed “consisted with” to Line 22 “consisted of” as suggested.

  1. Line 21 “with an N50”

Thank you. We have changed “with a N50” to Line 22 “with an N50” as suggested.

  1. Line 21 “similar to”

Thank you. We have changed “similar with” to Line 23 “similar to” as suggested.

  1. Line 36 “cause”

Thank you. We have changed “causes” to Line 37 “cause” as suggested.

  1. Line 53 “Until”

Thank you. We have changed “Untill now” to Line 56 “To date”.

  1. Line 64 “numerous”

Thank you. We have changed “numberous” to Line 67 “numerous” as suggested.

  1. Line 95 “were”

Thank you. We have changed the sentence to Line 98 “Consequently, there were six potential chromosomes in theC. dendroides genome, similar to related Trichodermaspecies, which have three to seven chromosomes.”

  1. Line 144 “different from”

Thank you. We have changed the sentence to Line 148“The MAT 1-2 idiomorph was not found in C. dendroides, incongruent with results in C. protrusum and M. perniciosa, but consistent with results in Macrophomina phaseolina, T. harzianum, and T. longibrachiatum.”

  1. Line 182 “when infecting”

Thank you. We have changed “when infect the host” to Line 186 “during infection”.

  1. Line 196 “signaling”

Thank you. We have changed “signalling” to Line 201 “signaling” as suggested.

Reviewer 2 Report

In this study, authors get a high-quality genome of Cladobotryum dendroides, analyses, and compare to other related species. The authors evaluate some groups of genes and try to figure out the possible mechanism of Cladobotryum dendroides causing cobweb disease on edible mushrooms. The aims of this study are clear and the analysis methods are reasonable. I don’t have major comments in this manuscript, but I have some concerts on the resolution of the Figures. The quality of Figure 1 is not good enough to read. For example, the characters on the outside of cycles are too small and difficult to read. Other figures have similar problems. I suggest the authors need to revise the figures and increase the resolution of figures. In addition, the authors need to check the citation of references. For example, the reference no. 30 should be “Bennett RJ, Turgeon BG. 2016. Fungal sex: the Ascomycota. Microbiol Spectrum 4(5):FUNK-0005-2016”.  (https://www.asmscience.org/docserver/fulltext/microbiolspec/4/5/FUNK-0005-2016.pdf?expires=1583746823&id=id&accname=guest&checksum=2080C79F8CEE38702BAA9327EA68147A). In my opinion, this manuscript could accept after minor revise.

Response to Reviewer 2:

Thank you for your comments. We have improved the overall English language of the manuscript. Our answers to your points are as follows.

Point 1: Reviewer has some concerts on the resolution of the Figures. The quality of Figure 1 is not good enough to read. For example, the characters on the outside of cycles are too small and difficult to read. Other figures have similar problems.

Response 1: Thank you. We have revised the Figures. More concretely, former Figure 1 has been reset into two Figures (Figure 1 and Supplementary Figure S1). The circos of former Figure 4 has been enlarged since the position of the two latin names have been changed.

Point 2: The authors need to check the citation of references. For example, the reference no. 30 should be “Bennett RJ, Turgeon BG. 2016. Fungal sex: the Ascomycota. Microbiol Spectrum 4(5): FUNK-0005-2016”.

Response 2: Thank you. We have checked the citation of references and revised the reference no. 30 to “Bennett, R.J.; Turgeon, B.G. Fungal sex: the Ascomycota. Microbiol. Spectr. 2016, 4, FUNK-0005-2016.”
