Comments and Suggestions for Authors

In the present review article the importance of the soil health as it relates to vineyards is discussed, the soil degradation factors and processes that threat winegrowing areas are presented, successful soil health enhancement practices are shown, and future research trends are identified for the benefit of researchers and stakeholders in this special agricultural industry.  The comments are below:

1. The logical structure of the article is not very good. First, introduce the concept of soil health, and then provide a detailed review around the physical, chemical, biological, and other aspects of soil health. It is better to combine Part 9 and Part 2. 3 and part 4 for a review.

2. There is some overlap in the article, such as the organic matter in Part 3 and Part 7.1.

3. Part 7 includes two subtitles, which may seem strange when placed together. Besides, the first section on influence of fertilizer application on secondary salinization is not indicated.

4. Part 7.2 focused on the soil acidification, while soil stress includes acidification, salinization, and compaction ect.. The article only briefly introduced acidification, and the content is insufficient and incomplete.

This report contains a lot of interesting information and thoughts and is easy to read. I did not find any major problems, but would suggest adding an introductory chapter that clearly outlines the main problem and aims of the article to improve the readability and comprehensibility of the extensive content.

As it stands, I feel somewhat lost as a reader, especially at the beginning, and I would welcome a guide or conceptual framework that clarifies the link between the chapters and the overall aim of the article. Otherwise, it is a very good and stimulating source of information.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The authors use in the text, definitions well known in Agricultural science (e.g. rhizosphere,  terroir, etc.)  In addition, they often use very long phrases that tire the reader and the meaning is not immediately understood.
