Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper is concerned with the study of the center vortex (monopole) model of quantum chromodynamics.  The authors have presented interesting numerical results on the string tension.  The method in the paper seems to give reasonable behavior of Creutz ratios by introducing Trmax.  I think that the paper can be published.  I recommend that the authors amend the manuscript by correcting typographical errors.  For example, in line 74, 'with traces smaller then Trmax' should read 'smaller than Trmax'.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript discussed the vortex-finding property in the vacuum SU(2) configurations of gluon fields. The thin lattice vortices appear as marks of the positions of the thicker physical center vortices. The relation depends on the quality of the gauge fixing that often undermines the accuracy of the lattice/physical vortex identification. The authors propose a new method to improve the identification procedure and demonstrate its validity using numerical simulations.

I find the paper interesting, well-written, clearly illustrated, with conclusions supported by the numerical results. Therefore I recommend the publication of the paper in its present form.
