·       Please focus on the abstract.

·       Please be more specific.

 

· I propose a major rewrite of the introduction to increase the knowledge content of the article and to include an overview of a) the application of edible coatings in extending the shelf life of fruits: a review).

Table 2., Coating matrix, Cross-linked coating: correct CaCl2

Table 3., Coating Composition, Protein: write Vitis vinifera italic.

The current applications of edible coatings are explored in this review, along with the chemical properties of the polymers, what can make edible coatings, and the impacts on fruit properties. This review article is well organized and could be accepted as it is.

The manuscript ‘Application of Edible Coating in Extension of Fruit Shelf Life: Review’ is a very interesting paper to which explore in detail the applications of edible coatings along with the chemical properties of the polymers, what can make edible coatings, and the impacts on fruit properties. The manuscript provides a large amount of data. Congratulations to the authors.

The manuscript is complete and the different sections of the article are well balanced and adequately supported by the data provided. The manuscript is clear and answers the objectives. The manuscript is appropriate from the aims and scope of the journal and is potentially publishable Agri Engineering with some minor changes.

1.      In my opinion, the research background should be improved more. In order to balance the scientific viewpoint and attract more attention from audiences, the authors are highly recommended to consider the inclusion of the some recent relevant research and review papers published in high impact factor journals.

2.      Some more citation should be included in table 2

3.      The antifungal and antibacterial properties of edible coating which provide a defensive barrier against microbial contamination need to include in the review which will improve the quality of paper and attract more readers

4.      Some more advanced Packaging strategies to prolong the shelf and their comparison can be included in paper

5.      Limitation of edible coating can also be included as separate section in paper

6.      Conclusions need to improve

7.       The whole article needs to be checked critically for typos and grammar errors

8.      All the references should be according to Journal guidelines
