Functional Properties of Structural Materials

Dear Colleagues,

As new materials continue to develop and many existing materials undergo improvements in terms of their compositions, there is a need to characterize their performances for structural applications. Additionally, as the manufacturing processes change, the property profiles of the materials exhibit variations. Therefore, this Special Issue aims at collecting research articles addressing mechanical behavior, especially fatigue performance, as structural components undergo dynamic loading. All types of materials, including metals and non-metals, are of interest, as are their mechanical and fatigue performances as functions of their compositions and processing routes in terms of manufacturing and post-manufacturing, e.g., heat treatment. Original research articles are of primary interest, but a few comprehensive review articles will be included.

Manuscript Submission Information

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
