Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The aim of this Special Issue is to compile cutting-edge research on the potential use of albumin for the enhancement of bone tissue regeneration. Bone tissue regeneration is a complex process involving the restoration and repair of damaged or lost bone tissue. Albumin, a versatile protein with exceptional biocompatibility and biological properties, is gaining attention for its potential applications in promoting bone regeneration. This Special Issue seeks to gather original research papers and reviews exploring the various aspects and advancements related to the use of albumin in bone tissue regeneration.

For this Special Issue, contributions that investigate albumin's therapeutic potential, mechanism of action, and novel techniques for bone tissue engineering are welcome for submission. We invite researchers from multiple disciplines, including biology, materials science, pharmacology, and regenerative medicine, to present their novel insights and breakthroughs in the following areas of interest:

  1. Bioinspired albumin-based scaffolds: Design, fabrication, and characterization of bioactive scaffolds incorporating albumin for bone tissue regeneration.
  2. Albumin-based drug delivery systems: Innovative strategies utilizing albumin as a carrier for targeted delivery of therapeutic agents to promote bone regeneration.
  3. Albumin-based growth factors: Investigation of the modulation of albumin in the release and delivery of growth factors to enhance bone tissue regeneration.
  4. Albumin-induced osteogenic differentiation: Insights into the biological mechanisms and signaling pathways stimulated by albumin, leading to enhanced bone regeneration.
  5. Albumin-based composite materials: Development and evaluation of hybrid materials combining albumin with other biomaterials to improve bone tissue regeneration.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Bioengineering is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
