Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the contemporary era of scientific and technological challenges to respond to climate change and its impact on the environment, food production and food safety systems, and animal and human welfare, new concepts have arisen, including OneHealth, a transdisciplinary approach to achieve optimal health for humans, animals, plants, and their shared environment, and the “three Rs” (reduce, reuse, and recycle), which also extend as an alternative approach (replacement, reduction, and refinement) to animals used in research, teaching, testing, and exhibition. At the same time, most private and public organizations worldwide have adopted strategies conforming to advanced environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG).

In this conceptual framework, we have seen  the development of application-tailored biosensors for the global surveillance of new and emerging health threats as well as monitoring and accurately assessing the impact of climate change on cross-species  health indices and the environment. In the same context, we explore herein wearable health sensors that could monitor individual animal and human health statuses and the surrounding environment in real-time, as well as biosensors based on flexible electronics that could provide real-time information on plant stress-related indicators and responses.  Therefore, the scope of this Special Issue is to provide readers with a comprehensive update on recent progress and state-of-the-art development in every aspect of biosensor technologies and principles for monitoring and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Biosensors is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
