Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Thoracic surgery in children is challenging and differs from adults in terms of surgical indications and techniques. The disease entities in children do not fully correspond to the pathologies seen in adults. The majority of indications for thoracic surgery in children can be classified as oncological, infectious, traumatic, and treatment for malformations. Because of the smaller size of the anatomical structures, the surgical technique must be adapted. In addition, the special physiological characteristics of infants and children make anesthetic management a further challenge.

This Special Issue, titled "Advances in Pediatric Thoracic Surgery", aims to collate the latest developments, techniques, and innovations in the field of pediatric thoracic surgery, with a particular focus on improving the outcomes and quality of care for our young patients.

The aim of this Special Issue is to collect original research, systematic reviews, or expert opinions on all aspects of this topic. Contributions focused on innovative thoracic surgical techniques in infants and children and the management of chest wall deformities are particularly welcome.

Our work will be based on an interdisciplinary approach to disseminate advanced knowledge and evidence with the aim of improving pediatric thoracic surgery outcomes.

From minimally invasive procedures to novel surgical approaches, including robotic surgery, this Special Issue highlights the cutting-edge advances that are shaping the future of pediatric thoracic surgery.

We hope that the insights shared in this Special Issue will not only inform and educate our readers but also inspire further research and collaboration in this important field of pediatric thoracic surgery.

We would like to thank all the authors, reviewers, and contributors who have made this Special Issue possible. Thank you for your commitment to advancing the field of pediatric thoracic surgery.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
