Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Smart grids are gaining popularity for theirs cost effectiveness, easier maintenance, better flexibility and safety, and higher automation level. The current energy crisis, unstable weather patterns, and increasing reliance on renewable resources are making grid management more and more demanding. Smart grids are an important element in handling these challenges, especially with the outlook of predicted growth in electricity demands and higher penetration of intermittent renewable sources.

Advanced simulation and analysis of smart grids is an important field of research as smart grids not only help to mitigate specific problems but also introduce new challenges, mainly in the security domain.

The main aim of this Special Issue is to attract high-quality contributions addressing recent advancements in the field of advanced simulation and analysis of smart grids, including microgrid systems in all its aspects, such as security, privacy, performance, etc.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

(1) Advanced simulation and analysis of smart grids including microgrid systems in all its aspects—security, privacy, performance, etc.;

(2) Use of advanced or innovative technologies in smart grid simulation, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, software-defined networking, emulation, etc.;

(3) Analysis of smart grids for threats, attacks, and vulnerabilities;

(4) Simulation and analysis testing and verification;

(5) Methodologies for smart grids analysis;

(6) Simulation of various elements of smart grid topology—control center, primary and secondary digital substations, redundant WAN connections, etc.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
