Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

With the fast development of communication systems, we are entering into a new era of 6G wireless communication systems in 2030s. Our lives will be augmented by ultra-high speed, ultra-low latency, and ultra-reliable wireless connections, native AI, and advanced sensing technologies. Terahertz communication is one of the key technologies in 6G systems to provide extreme speed and low latency in high date-rate transmission. As a key front-end interface from active circuits to the free space in communication systems, antennas play a significant role in transmitting and receiving wireless signals. Antennas are facing a series of new challenges in 6G applications, especially for the terahertz communications, such as ultra-high frequency band, ultra-low profile, large-scale array design, extremely high fabrication accuracy, etc.

This Special Issue aims to provide an international forum for researchers to disseminate their latest findings on the techniques, applications, and understanding in realizing antennas for 6G and terahertz communication systems. The topics are expected to cover new theories, new manufacturing techniques, and new algorithms for the design of antennas and arrays for 6G and terahertz communication systems. This topic is of growing importance in the section of "Microwave and Wireless Communications", and the Guest Editors plan to address this topic with a Special Issue in the Electronics (ISSN 2079-9292) journal.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but not limited to) the following:

Topic

(1) New methods of realizing antennas for base station applications;

(2) New methods of realizing antennas for satellites applications;

(3) New methods of realizing antennas for smart sensing applications;

(4) New artificial intelligent algorithms such as machine learning, deep learning, etc., for the design of antennas;

(5) New materials such as metamaterials, liquids, graphene, etc., for designing antennas for 6G applications;

(6) New manufacture technologies in realizing 6G terahertz antennas, such as 3D printing, laser cutting, etc.;

(7) Array designs with smart beams for 6G applications;

(8) High-gain reflectarray antennas and transmitarray antennas for 6G applications.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
