Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The journal Fishes is preparing a Special Issue entitled “Sustainable Aquaculture in China: Possibilities and Challenges”. Aquaculture supplies superior protein for human nutrition, which supports a sustainable Earth. Thus, aquaculture practices must be sustainable. Sustainable aquaculture in China is very important as China provides more than 60% of global aquaculture volume. A sustainable pattern means low input and high output; what steps can be taken to make aquaculture more sustainable? Strategies include culture technology, management, cultured species, feed inputs, as well as the use of by-products and waste streams. We welcome the submission of original research articles, reviews, mini-reviews, and perspective articles on topics including but not limited to the following:

  • Existing problems in China’s aquaculture;
  • Strategies for sustainable aquaculture in China;
  • Perspectives of sustainable aquaculture in China.
