Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue, titled “Molecular and Cellular Biology of Breast Cancer”, aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current understanding of breast cancer at the molecular level. The studies included in this Special Issue should highlight the following key points:

  1. Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease with distinct molecular subtypes that are strongly associated with tumour grade.
  2. The molecular classification of breast cancer is crucial for understanding the biological pathways involved in the progression from precursor lesions to invasive disease.
  3. Molecular pathogenesis studies have revealed that breast cancer is a collection of diseases with variable molecular underpinnings, which influence disease progression and response to treatment.
  4. Gene expression profiling has enabled the identification of four main molecular classes of breast cancer, providing valuable insights into the molecular diversity of the disease.
  5. Advances in molecular biology and pathology have contributed to improving the diagnosis, management, and treatment of breast cancer.
  6. Molecular testing for genetic and genomic variations has become an integral part of breast cancer management, particularly for patients with a family history of the disease.

Overall, this Special Issue emphasizes the importance of molecular research in understanding the pathology and biology of breast cancer, with the aim of improving diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes. Real-world studies are welcome to be submitted to this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
