Molecular Developments and Prospects in Thyroid Cancer

Dear Colleagues,

Increasing incidence of thyroid carcinoma has been registered in the last decade. Although the majority of patients has an excellent prognosis, the management of patients with invasive tumors and/or distant metastases, especially when they are not efficaciously responsive to radioiodine, represents still a major clinical challenge. A better understanding on the characterization of the morphological, mutational, transcriptional and genomic profiling of the different types of thyroid cancer is necessary. Therefore, it is important individuate new molecular approaches for a better and useful characterization of these tumors. This Special Issue thus aims to provide an update on new genetic, epigenetic, molecular mechanisms and also on the new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches found for thyroid cancer (Since IJMS is a journal of molecular science, pure clinical studies will not be suitable for our journal).
