Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The global burden of metabolic disorders is increasing due to a variety of factors, including sedentary lifestyles, poor dietary habits, environmental factors, genetic predisposition, and an aging population. These can have detrimental effects on various aspects of body physiology, such as nutrient processing, energy production, and hormonal regulation. Consequently, metabolic disorders can significantly affect skeletal tissues, resulting in bone and cartilage loss. Conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and osteoporosis are more likely to develop, and the risk of bone fractures increases as well. Effectively managing these issues requires not only the treatment of the underlying metabolic disorder but also targeted therapies to promote bone and cartilage health. In light of these concerns, we invite submissions for this Special Issue focusing on musculoskeletal diseases related to metabolic disorders. By disseminating the latest research and insights, we aim to enhance understanding and improve approaches in addressing the musculoskeletal consequences of metabolic dysfunction. We welcome original research articles and comprehensive review papers that explore the pathogenesis of musculoskeletal diseases associated with metabolic disorders.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English.
