Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Peptide and protein self-assembly are fundamental processes in nature, synonymous to life via their involvement in the basic workings of biology. At the same time, the advantages of tailoring the unique combination of properties that characterize peptide and protein self-assembly provide inspiration that leads to new applications in research and development, such as in biomedical engineering, biomanufacturing, regenerative medicine and dentistry, nanotechnology and even energy technology and food engineering, thus providing unique contributions in tackling global challenges. Therefore, it gives us great pleasure to present this Special Issue of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, focusing on critical advances in this exciting field.

We welcome submissions of original scientific research manuscripts, comprehensive reviews and short communications that report on the latest breakthroughs relating the following key topics (but not limited to them):

  • Fundamental understanding of peptide and protein self-assembly;
  • Design and control of biological materials based on peptide and protein self-assembly;
  • Biomanufacturing of self-assembling peptide and proteins;
  • Bioinspired self-assembling peptides and protein for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine;
  • Peptide and protein self-assembly in disease prognosis, diagnosis and therapy;
  • Advanced techniques for studying peptide and protein self-assembly;
  • Technological applications, innovation and technology transfer based on self-assembling peptides and proteins.

We hope that you will be able to submit a manuscript for consideration and possible publication in this Special Issue. Kindly let us know your intentions to submit a manuscript at your earliest by sending your tentative title and summary. We would also appreciate if you could forward this to your team members and colleagues who may also be interested in the topic.

We appreciate the valuable contribution of Ms. Niki Karipidou, PhD Candidate, Dept. Chemical Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in the accomplishment of this Special Issue.

Thank you for your consideration and please contact us if you have any questions or suggestions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
