Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue delves into the innovative advancements in understanding vascular aging from a comprehensive pathophysiological perspective. Early vascular aging (EVA) refers to premature changes in blood vessels, involving structural and functional changes in the arterial tree, which results in increased arterial stiffness compared to natural aging. EVA significantly increases cardiovascular risk and plays a pivotal role in the cardiovascular continuum. The collection of articles featured in this Special Issue will offer an in-depth exploration of the underlying mechanisms, contributing factors, and novel interventions related to EVA.

The articles to be included in this Special Issue will cover a range of topics, from molecular and cellular aspects to systemic influences on vascular health. Researchers could present novel findings on the role of oxidative stress, inflammation, and genetic factors in accelerating vascular aging. Insights into endothelial dysfunction, a hallmark of vascular aging, are advocated, shedding light on potential therapeutic targets.

Furthermore, this Special Issue will highlight emerging technologies and methodologies that contribute to a more nuanced understanding of vascular aging. Advanced imaging techniques, omics approaches, and experimental models provided by researchers are suggested to unravel the intricacies of vascular aging, paving the way for innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

Contributions from experts in the field will offer a holistic view of vascular aging, encompassing its impact on various organs and systems. The interdisciplinary nature of the research presented is meant to emphasize the interconnectedness between vascular aging and other age-related conditions and to offer a comprehensive outlook for clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals.

In conclusion, this Special Issue welcomes the basics with the aim of deepening our understanding of vascular aging and its implications. Contributions exploring the pathophysiological aspects and proposing innovative and ambitious therapeutic strategies are particularly encouraged.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
