Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The progress of medicine in pancreatic cancer and the skill to perform more complex diagnostic and surgical procedures have significantly improved the results of the treatment, although traditionally, pancreatic cancer surgery has been considered one of the most challenging. Better imaging techniques, such as MRI, CT scans, PET scans, and endoscopic ultrasonography, can help in accurately staging pancreatic cancer. This information guides surgeons in determining the extent of resection needed and whether the tumor is resectable or not. Today, neoadiuvant chemotherapy and minimally invasive surgery, such as laparoscopic or robotically assisted pancreatectomy, are usually available in common clinical practice. In advanced cases where complete removal of the tumor is not possible, innovation in palliative treatment can alleviate symptoms and improve the quality of life. A team of specialists, including surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists, collaborates to create tailored approaches for pancreatic cancer. Surgical treatment plays a crucial role in managing pancreatic cancer, and different procedures are used based on the location and stage of the tumor.

In this Special Issue, we welcome authors to submit papers on the clinical advances in the treatment of pancreatic cancer in terms of both diagnosis and treatment.
