Symposium: The 38th annual EARSeL Symposium follows a long series of successful symposia, with the last ones being held in Prague (2017), Bonn (2016) and Stockholm (2015): Climate change, overpopulation,
overexploitaion of natural resources, all put pressure on the sustainability of most human activities. Many believe that we must drastically change our ways, in order to adapt to the new circumstances. In order to decide on what is required to change, we must investigate the possibilities and to do so, we require data and information. So how can remote sensing methods help fill this gap and lead us to sustainability <http://symposium.earsel.org/38th-symposium-Chania/topics/>?

Workshop: Following the success of the two previous EARSeL Special Interest Group on Land Use and Land Cover (SIG LU/LC) and NASA Land-Cover/Land-Use Change (LCLUC) Program joint Workshops (Berlin 2014 and Prague 2016) with more than 270 participants from 4 continents, the 3rd EARSeL LULC and NASA LCLUC joint Workshop sets the questions towards and beyond the 2020 emerging challenges <http://lulc.earsel.org/workshop/2018-lulc-ws/sessions/>.
