Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Though there are many global conferences in the field of non-destructive testing and evaluation, there is no bigger conference than the WCNDT (World Conference on Non-Destructive Testing). The next world conference, the 20th WCNDT, will be held in Incheon, Korea from 27 to 31 May 2024. As you know, this conference was postponed from 2020 to 2024 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the recent signs of the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, this conference that NDT industry practitioners from around the world have been waiting for is expected to attract 2000 delegates and over 200 exhibitors from all over the world to showcase the best of the latest innovations and technologies in the field. Additionally, various topics concerning NDT and NDE skills and their applications will be examined, and many excellent papers from those topics are expected to be presented. Among those topics, “Nondestructive Evaluation of Materials”, which is the title of this Special Issue, is a key topic that is highly related with all the fields of non-destructive testing and evaluation, and this is the reason we are producing this Special Issue.

We invite you to submit high-quality research as well as technical or review papers to this Special Issue, with an emphasis on innovative new and emerging technologies, including applications for a wide meaning of non-destructive evaluation of materials. However, please note that in order to submit papers in this Special Issue, it is required for the paper to be presented at the 20th WCNDT first. The submission window will be open until Aug 31 2023, and you can find the details concerning paper submissions on the website (www.20thwcndt.com).

The objective of this Special Issue is to collate the experience of leading scientists, researchers, and field engineers and to support those who would like to adopt a new non-destructive evaluation methodology for better safety as well as production efficiency in industrial fields. From this point of view, we believe that this Special Issue will provide technological advances, the latest research on the state of the art, and innovative field application results in the non-destructive evaluation of materials. Interested and committed individuals from academia, research laboratories, industries, and related companies are invited to contribute.

If you need any further information about this Special Issue, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
