Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This journal supplement aims to present important clinical circumstances that may arise in the course of the treatment of patients with diseases in the field of abdominal and general surgery. The outcomes of emergency surgical and chronic gastrointestinal diseases are conditioned by the clinical circumstances and associated systemic diseases. Treatment outcomes significantly depend on decision-making algorithms and a personalised approach, which requires the integration of different clinical modalities. In this journal, we aim to present results from the field of emergency abdominal surgery, surgery for gastrointestinal cancers, and chronic diseases of inflammatory aetiology, taking into account the latest management guidelines. The journal supplement ascribes special importance to research activities in these fields.
