Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce a Special Issue of Nanomaterials focusing on the “Physics of Advanced Nanomaterials and Interfaces”. Over the past decades, the field of nanotechnology has witnessed significant progress in manipulating materials at the nanoscale, leading to transformative breakthroughs. This Special Issue aims to explore the intricate physics governing the behavior of advanced nanomaterials, with a particular emphasis on understanding the phenomena occurring at their interfaces.

Covering studies of organic and inorganic nanodevices, composite nanomaterials, nanostructures with multifunctional capabilities, nanoscale microscopy techniques, and innovative nanofabrication methods, this Special Issue seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of recent developments in the field. It specifically aims to elucidate the emerging physics dictating the properties and applications of these advanced materials.

A key focus of this Special Issue lies in investigating the nuanced physics occurring at the interfaces of advanced nanomaterials. Interactions at these interfaces often result in novel phenomena and functionalities that challenge conventional understanding. Contributions are welcomed across theoretical and experimental research, providing a holistic view of the diverse research landscape in this rapidly evolving domain.

Researchers are invited to submit original research articles, reviews, and perspectives that provide insights into the fundamental physics defining the behavior of advanced nanomaterials. This call seeks to facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange within the nanomaterials community, fostering a deeper understanding of the physics governing these materials and interfaces.

The editorial team anticipates valuable contributions that will contribute to shaping the discourse on the physics of advanced nanomaterials and interfaces. This Special Issue offers an opportunity for researchers to disseminate their findings to an interdisciplinary audience, while advancing our collective understanding of the physics that govern advanced nanomaterials and interfaces.

The volume covers all type of studies related to the physics governing the growing processes and behavior of advanced nanomaterials and the phenomena occurring at their interfaces and contains but is not limited to the following topics:

  • Inovative processing methods and technologies for advanced nanomaterials and nanostructures;
  • Studies investigating the phenomena occurring at the interfaces of advanced nanomaterials and nanodevices;
  • Theoretical models and simulations for nanomaterials electronic structure and for the observed phenomena;
  • Perspectives on emerging physics dictating the properties and applications of advanced nanomaterials and interfaces.

This volume will include both reviews and regular research papers that include theoretical and experimental studies on advanced nanomaterials and interfaces, on processing and characterization methods and on all types of interactions and phenomena that impose to nanomaterials and interfaces certain functionalities.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
