2024 World Congress on In Vitro Biology

Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to invite you to join the Society for In Vitro Biology (SIVB) as we return to St. Louis, Missouri, the heart of mid-America’s Biotechnology Community, for our quadrennial 2024 World Congress on In Vitro Biology running from June 8 to 12, 2024. This extraordinary experience includes an outstanding scientific program addressing both the latest developments and core fundamentals of in vitro plant and animal biotechnology, gene editing, and genomics! Join your peers from around the globe to build professional relationships that can support your career! You will not want to miss this opportunity to talk one-on-one with leading experts in a casual atmosphere; present and receive feedback on your research from some of the most respected names in the field; and attend workshops, social events, and scientific tours throughout the event. SIVB offers both in-person and post-meeting “On-Demand Limited Access” registration opportunities to enjoy this year’s 2024 World Congress Program. There are also opportunities for both in person and virtual poster presentations.

The SIVB is pleased to announce that Mark Settles, PhD, Synthetic Biology Investigator at the NASA Ames Research Center and Emeritus Professor at University of Florida, Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology program & Horticultural Sciences Dept, will be the Keynote Speaker at the 2024 World Congress. Dr. Settles received a BA from the University of Delaware, and a PhD from Stony Brook University. He completed his dissertation research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and a post-doc at the University of Florida (UF). He was the 2000–2021 Vasil-Monsanto Professor of Plant Cell & Molecular Biology at UF, focusing on genomics, maize seed development, environmental stress tolerance, and synthetic genes for biotechnology applications. He was a Program Director in NSF’s 2020 Plant Genome Program and transferred to NASA-Ames in 2021. His program focuses on the application of synthetic biology to deep space exploration and aeronautics. Dr. Settles is an inventor of patents in artificial intelligence and synthetic biology. His June 9th keynote talk will be on “Synthetic Biology to Support Human Exploration of Deep Space.”

SIVB strongly believes that students are the future of science. To support our vision to encourage education and scientific informational exchange, special opportunities will be available to assist the professional development of students. SIVB offers free student registration and membership initiatives, a student awards program, and student oral and poster presentation competitions.
