Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Decision making for new installations in the field of energy production using sustainable energy resources should be justified using specific quantitative parameters. Given the growing rate of installations of renewable energy and storage applications, the integral sustainability aspect of environmental assessment should also be quantified, in a similar manner to technical and financial parameters. The recent development of comprehensive environmental assessment tools, such as life cycle assessment (LCA) and product environmental footprint (PEF), as well as scientific work conducted in these fields, allows for the development of a joint framework to evaluate different technologies on a common basis concerning their environmental perspectives.

This Special Issue of Sustainability aspires to present the state-of-the-art in the field of environmental assessment of renewable energy conversion technologies. The readership of this Special Issue will have access to justified figures, approaches and techniques for the comprehensive environmental assessment of a significant range of applications for individual sustainable energy conversion technologies.
