Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

A nice contribution which presents new findings of extinct cephaopods jaws. I only wish to have a more general view of the study area. Only two suggestions are marked on the attached file.

Reviewer 2 Report

In this manuscript, Rogov et al. presented a new finding of there coleoid jaw specimens (two upper jaws and one plausible lower jaw) from the lower Toarcian in Siberia. I was enjoy reading this manuscript, scientific clear, well writing, as well as the nice jaw fossils, which I hope I can find in my next field trip.

I am curious about the mineralogical composition of the jaws. Some other readers may also want to know as well. It would be great if the authors can provide taphonomic analysis on them, which would make this work more interesting. Overall, I would like recommend the publication of this work after some minor revisions.

Section 3. Description of coleoid jaws.

Please explain the dimensions measured on the jaws to help readers understand what these measurements mean, see Souquet et al., 2023, Fig. 1C, D for example.
