Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The submitted paper deals with the trade openness and FDI. Authors choose appropriate methods and presented results are based on this approach. The only issue is lack of resources cited in the introduction part, especially in its firsta and last part. Please try to use more resources related with the topic and cite the resources for all statements.

Except this one issue I find this paper to be comprehensive and relevant to the topic. After this change the paper can be recommended for the publication.

Reviewer 2 Report

The paper investigates the correlations between trade openness and foreign direct investments. The topic is absolutely actual, in the current era of free trade agreements, globalized corporate structures, and the maniac profit-maximizing behavior of the MNC-s.

The authors established the theoretical background in a form of an exceptional good literature chapter which is comprehensive and critical enough.

The methodology used is very much appropriate and support the discussion and results.

The results, conclusions, and main findings are logical, based on the analysis, and supported by the calculations.

Regarding content, I recommend to extend the literature review with one more source which is investigating the FDI inflow and factor-matrix in Serbia - published in a Q2 journal, probably useful for the soundness (https://www.jois.eu/?585,en_foreign-direct-investment-in-the-republic-of-serbia-correlation-between-foreign-direct-investments-and-the-selected-economic-variables)

A technical, but important note, that the text is not edited and formatted well, it is not firing the criteria of the journal, and several disturbing editing solutions we can observe (e.g. the list of references style and outfit is not unified)
