Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This paper presents a fusion synapse using memristor and memcapacitor, the topic is interesting, while some key issues should be further clarified below:

Q1: The motivation of this paper is suggested to discuss again, why the authors want to provide the choice suggestion? The main research gaps in the field of battery size and chemistry selection are suggested to add in the revised version.

Q2: The introduction part is suggested to polish and revise again, some related works are suggested to add in the revised version (e.g., 1. ICNCS: Internal Cascaded Neuromorphic Computing System for Fast Electric Vehicle State of Charge Estimation. IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics; 2: An improved bidirectional gated recurrent unit method for accurate state-of-charge estimation; 3. Multiple memristor circuit parametric fault diagnosis using feedback-control doublet generator; 4 A review of AC and DC electric springs. IEEE Access) Based on this, the entire introduction part can be more sufficient.

Q3: The comparative experiments are suggested to add in the revised version. Meanwhile, the necessary parameter setting and optimization are suggested in the experiment part.

Q4: The English writing is suggested to improve again.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The authors discussed the issues about the battery size, battery capacity, and the cell chemistry which provides the lowest cost for the operator and the individual application. The NMC battery can transport higher payloads at lower charging powers due to the larger installable battery capacity. On the other hand, at higher charging power, LFP battery can transport comparable payloads. However, some issues should be addressed.

1. LFP- and NMC-based lithium-ion batteries have been discussed. However, the authors can consider about the supercapacitors. Since the supercapacitors have the merits of high power density and long cycle life, they can be hybrid with lithium-ion batteries, which can provide high charging power and improve the battery lifespan. In this way, the lithium-ion battery size and battery capacity can be reduced for certain preloads. In the case of higher charging power, such as 900kW, the investment cost and the battery size can be reduced.

2. For the fixed routine transportation with more readily available electric energy, the battery-electric long-haul trucks would be more suitable.

3. From the point of view of safety, LFP battery have higher safety and thermal stability, which can be noticed.
