Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The neck and shoulder pain combined with headache did you mean tension headache?

Trigeminal nerve distribution influences orofacial pain and neck pain, it needs more detailed description.

What is the potential relationship between TMJ disorder and primary cough headache?

The neck and shoulder pain combined with headache did you mean tension headache?

We added following (underlined) statement in the Discussion.

In this case, patients also had the neck and shoulder pain. TMD and tension type headache commonly cause this presentation. Though our patient met the criteria for headache attributed to TMD, and not for tension-type headache, myofascial TMD pain and tension-type headache disorders may overlap, and appear to share many of the same pathophysiological mechanisms

Trigeminal nerve distribution influences orofacial pain and neck pain, it needs more detailed description.

We added following statement in the Discussion.

The trigeminocervical nucleus is a region of the upper cervical spinal cord where sensory nerve fibers in the descending tract of the trigeminal nerve are thought to interact with sensory fibers from the upper cervical roots. The convergence of upper cervical and trigeminal sensory pathways allows referred pain between the neck and trigeminal sensory receptive fields of the face and head.

What is the potential relationship between TMJ disorder and primary cough headache?

We added following statement in the Conclusion.

We observed PCH and headache attributed to TMD occurring simultaneously.  PCH may have masked the symptoms of headache attributed to TMD that would cause diagnostic confusion. Orofacial pain and headache specialists should collaborate to further develop diagnostic procedures and management strategies of TMD and PCH. Thus, future clinical research is warranted.

Reviewer 3 Report

The scientific paper "Headache attributed to temporomandibular disorder and primary cough headache" aimed to report a clinical case of a 52-year-old patient associated with facial pain with temporomandibular disorder. It can be considered that:

  • For all medications used by the patient in the reported case, insert the manufacturer's name, city and country.
  • Describe the activities that were performed in physical therapy.
  • The images are not well visible, especially in Figure 1.
  • Adjust the call in the text of the references inserted in the discussion according to the standards of the journal.

We inserted the manufacturer's name, city and country (inteban®, kagawa, Japan).

Describe the activities that were performed in physical therapy.

We added following statement.

...he was strongly encouraged to perform at-home physical therapy (five sessions a day of temporal and masseter muscle massage at specific tender points, and temporal, masseter, temporal, and medial pterygoid muscle stretching).

The images are not well visible, especially in Figure 1.

We corrected the image in Fig1,2.

Adjust the call in the text of the references inserted in the discussion according to the standards of the journal.

 I adjusted the references.
