Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The introduction : the first part of the introduction on Nurse research's story is too long, I think it'd be a brief note to introduce the meaning and the main scopes of nurse research in general.

Results and discussion : Topics of Nurse Research in Saudi Arabia are not mentioned. I thnik that'd be really interesting in order to give more details on how and on what nurse research in Saudi Arabia took place. Talking about "Healthcare System improvement" is a good topic, but maybe it's better to be more specific.

I think the Discussion has many redundant sentences, it could abe a shorter part of the paper

Conclusion : Once again : the message to improve nurse research is really good, but the authors could put the focus on major issues to improve.

Comment: The introduction: the first part of the introduction on Nurse research's story is too long, I think it'd be a brief note to introduce the meaning and the main scopes of nurse research in general.

Response: Thank you for your valuable feedback on the introduction. Following your suggestion, we have condensed this section to provide a brief note that introduces the meaning and main scopes of nurse research.

I thnik that'd be really interesting in order to give more details on how and on what nurse research in Saudi Arabia took place. Talking about "Healthcare System improvement" is a good topic, but maybe it's better to be more specific.

Response:  Thank you for the valuable feedback on the "Results and Discussion" section of our manuscript. We appreciate your suggestion to investigate deeper into the topics of Nurse Research in Saudi Arabia.

I'd like to address that our manuscript does touch upon areas such as "Healthcare System Improvement" and " history of nursing education".

However, given the vast diversity of topics within Saudi Arabian nursing research, which does not concentrate on a limited number of areas, we chose to categorize them for clarity and coherence. We felt it was most effective to present these areas under broader classifications such as clinical practice, education, and management. Furthermore, we have dissected topics according to settings, study design, sampling techniques, framework utilization, and authorship to provide a comprehensive overview. We believe this approach offers a structured yet thorough representation of nursing research in Saudi Arabia. Still, we are open to expanding on any specific areas if deemed necessary.

Comment: I think the Discussion has many redundant sentences, it could abe a shorter part of the paper

Response:  Thank you for your comment regarding the redundancy in the Discussion section. Upon revisiting the Discussion, we recognized the areas of repetition and redundancy as you pointed out. We have now undertaken a comprehensive revision of this section to ensure that it is more concise, focused, and to the point.

Comment: Conclusion: Once again: the message to improve nurse research is really good, but the authors could put the focus on major issues to improve.

Response:  Thank you for your feedback. We have refined our conclusion to emphasize major areas requiring improvement in nursing research in Saudi Arabia. Specifically, we have condensed our remarks on the application of nursing theory, the need for diversity in research focus, and the importance of institutional support.

Author Response

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to reviewer 2 for the time, careful consideration, and insightful comments on our manuscript titled. Your feedback has greatly contributed to enhancing the quality and clarity of this work. In the following, I have provided detailed responses to each of the points raised, addressing them thoroughly to ensure that the necessary revisions have been made.

Comment: Please define research question (PICO) for your study.

Response:  Thank you for the valuable feedback. We add our PICO question at the end of the introduction section as suggested.

Comment: What was the framework for your systematic review: cohran colaboration or Joana Bridge Institute. Please add the critical appraisal of the selected studies.

Response:   Thank you for your comment. In conducting our systematic review, we chose the PRISMA framework given its strong emphasis on clear, transparent, and comprehensive reporting. PRISMA is widely recognized for ensuring methodological rigor in systematic reviews and ensures that readers and stakeholders have a clear understanding of the processes we underwent. Our primary objective was to trace the historical evolution of nursing research in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and compare it with other nations and to seek the area of improvement and implications, rather than seeking to identify the best available clinical evidence for practice. This objective necessitates a broader inclusion criterion, encompassing all articles irrespective of their individual methodological rigor. Such an inclusive approach offers a holistic view of the trajectory and scope of nursing research over time. Critical appraisal tools, while valuable for determining the quality and applicability of studies for clinical practice, were not pertinent to our overarching aim. Hence, we opted for a more comprehensive inclusion strategy to provide a panoramic view of the nursing research landscape in Saudi Arabia.

Comment: Please specify your conclucion according the reseach question and what are the implication and practice.

Response:  Thank you for your feedback. We have refined our conclusion according to the research question and to emphasize major areas requiring improvement in nursing research in Saudi Arabia. Specifically, we have condensed our remarks on the application of nursing theory, the need for diversity in research focus, and the importance of institutional support.
