Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Editor,

I completed the evaluation of title manuscript "Agro-morphological characterization and some seed character-2 istics of wild Crambe (Brassicaceae) species in Turkey" I reviewed the manuscript based on originality, technical quality, clarity of presentation and potential significance. I believe that the manuscript has valuable data, however the manuscript has some mistakes terminology, and its goal, methodology and discussions have fluently linked between introduction and results, it is easy to fallow.

Required corrections and suggestions were shown with yellow colour on the manuscript.

Best Wishes…

Reviewer 2 Report

The article is well written, and the research was well conducted. There are a few details to be corrected or included for the finalization of the article to be accepted by the journal.

The abstract is good and shows briefly how the research was developed and the main results and ends with the conclusion.

The introduction is very clear and written in an objective way. The authors used eight references, half of them from the last ten years, which is good for research that used non-commercial and little-disseminated plant species worldwide such as Crambe. In the last paragraph, before the objectives, the hypothesis that was tested by the research could be added.

The Material and Methods section is very detailed, but I believe it should be included if there was any type of fertilization in the areas cultivated by the research. If so, please indicate the amounts of nutrients added to the soil. Even if they are the same for all areas of Cambre cultivation.

The Results section is very detailed, with a presentation of the main results obtained in the research.

Discussion Section: In the first paragraph there are many comparisons between results obtained by other researchers, but there is not, as a conclusion, a discussion of the reasons why the results found in this research are higher or lower in some variables. A good technique for writing the discussion is after presenting the highlights of your results, comparing this with the literature on the subject, and then trying to find reasons why they are the same or different (higher or lower) than those presented in the literature. And finally, make a brief conclusion to that theme. In case there are still doubts, Suggest the possible reasons, using, for example, the word, it probably occurred for that reason.

Likewise for the second paragraph of the discussion. Even if there are no studies using the same wild plants from Crambe, a discussion can be made about what exists of cultivated species and make the same comparisons and find the probable reasons for the differences between them, such as soil, climate, planted region, fertilization, and even the characteristics of the plant itself, such as the potential for growth or production of accession as a result of selection and improvement. try to find the real reasons for the differences and try to give a possible explanation.

Section Conclusion: Avoid the discussion in this section. The first two sentences are for discussion. Transfer this discussion to the Discussion section.

Suggestion for the Conclusion: "Crambe species have good potential for industrial oil and animal feed (as a source of protein). C. tataria and C. orientalis are not suitable for conventional agriculture. Conventional cultivation of Crambe can only be possible by eliminating negative features with breeding and agronomic studies."
