Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The solution of the intake system presented in the article is consistent with the current expectations regarding internal combustion piston engines. The solution will reduce the emission of harmful exhaust components from engines in which this solution will be used, which will significantly contribute to the development of internal combustion piston engines.

Author Response

Dear reviewer, thank you very much for your review, I really appreciate it.

Sincerely, the author

Reviewer 2 Report

This article presents a numerical investigation on the possible technological solutions for the implementation of biofuels, including ethanol. The present work is worth to be considered for publication in this Journal after minor improvement.

1) In particular, methodological section should mention additional information on the discretization approach also in the view of a mesh independency analysis.

2) Posed hypotheses and obtained results should be discussed in the view of chemical phenomena characterizing the system, as well. In this sense, "Reduced Combustion Mechanism for Fire with Light Alcohols"(https://doi.org/10.3390/fire4040086) is recommended as an example of a recently published article integrating a kinetic mechanism for ethanol in CFD investigations.

Author Response

Dear reviewer, thank you very much for your review, I really appreciate it. Sincerely, the author    The article was reworked in accordance with the comments and the corresponding contribution was also incorporated [3]

Reviewer 3 Report

I find the article very interesting and appropriate for publication in this journal. I request that the author takes into consideration the following comments and implement them,

Lines 47-49, “The most difficult problem, which occurs during a mathematical description of the 47 Otto cycle in the case of two-stroke engine, is a complexity of gas flow and heat exchange 48 between the points 4 and 1 (Fig.1 ).” The author needs to show where those points are in Fig.1.

Line 66, “There were only shortened the input and output channels.” does not make sense.

There are some complex sentences, I urge the author to simplify them for the sake of simplicity of the reader.

Author Response

Dear reviewer, thank you very much for your review, I really appreciate it. Sincerely, the author      The article was reworked; the sentences were modified. Figure 1 was added and the line 66 was modified, too.
