Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper " Potential effects on occupational safety and health from infrasound and audible frequencies generated by the vibrations of diesel engines using biofuel blends at the workplaces of sustainable engineering systems" had evaluated potential effects on occupational safety and health (OSH) at the workplaces of sustainable engineering projects, and aims to contribute to the improvement of the three “sustainability pillars” (economy, social, environmental). I found that the parts of the manuscript present interesting results. However, the manuscript still has some defects. Thus, the authors should revise the manuscript accordingly. The following hints may help the authors:

Q1: The Abstract and conclusion are not well organized. Don't write too much about the research background in the Abstract. In addition, the results should be further elaborated to show how they could be used for the real applications.

Q2: In the results and discussion, the author only focuses on the changing trend of graphics (these can be seen in the figure). The author should focus on the reason. In addition, many analyses are wrong, such as the previous points.

Q4: The novelty/originality and scope: The novelty/originality shall be justified by highlighting that the manuscript contains sufficient contributions to the new body of knowledge. Please avoid lumping references in introduction, such as [1-4],[16-18]. Instead, please summarize the main contribution of each references paper in separate sentences. Some latest references should be added in the Introduction.doi:10.1016/j.fuproc.2022.107213;10.1016/j.energy.2022.123733Q5: The standard of English is very important for an accurate assessment of the science presented in an international scientific article, so, before resubmitting your manuscript to this journal or to any other journal, please, revise it thoroughly also from this point of view.

Q6: Materials and Methods: what's the cause of the uncertainty analysis for performance parameters? It should be needed a detailed description. Please give a much more detailed description of the experimental device, such as measuring range, error, equipment type. Here it is too short for giving correct description.

Q7: In the Results and Discussions section, the discussion and analysis of this paper were mostly quantitative, which leads the conclusions lack of depth. At least, we need to obtain some general laws to guide practical application, which can better meet the standard of the journal.

Q8: In the paper, “The experiment was conducted in 850, 1150 and 2000 rpm” . Why use 850, 1150 and 2000 rpm in the paper? It should be needed a detailed description.

Q9: In the paper, the biofuel is employed to investigate the  effects on occupational safety and health. What are the advantages of this fuel. The difference in the fuel should be highlighted

This manuscript suggests a technique to determine the infrasound and audible sound frequencies produced due to vibrations of diesel engines, by using biofuels (a fact that corresponds to a sustainable utilization of resources), in order to evaluate potential effects on occupational safety and health (OSH) at the workplaces of sustainable engineering projects. In addition, this study aims to contribute to the improvement of the three “sustainability pillars” (economy, social, environmental).

I think that the research is studied well. But there are only several points to be revised as follows.

Comments 1: Page 5, the author provides the picture of the diesel engine. I suggest the author also provides the Experimental layout figure, so the it easy to understand the whole experiment for readers.

Comment 2: I think the author should supply commercial information of the diesel and sensors used in this study.

Comment 3: I think the author should add reference at

“The F.T. is a mathematical transform that decomposes functions depending on space or time into functions depending on spatial frequency or temporal frequency.”

“The Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) is an essential part in signal analysis and one of the basic tools in digital signal processing. It is focused in analysis:”

“In this research Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) has been used to accelerate the calculations, and for this reason the MATLAB software was the tool for converting the signals from time domain to frequency spectrum”.
