Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I have critically through the manuscript entitled "Effects of pH adjustment on the release of carbon source of particulate organic matter (POM) in domestic sewage" and found interesting. However, the manuscript can be improved following below listed suggestion.

1. The abbreviation used in the manuscript need to be expanded at first place before using in the next place.

2. Line 41: slowly degradable organic matter (SBOM) need to be corrected to avoid confusion.

3. The discussion part need to be improved further utilizing recent research insights.

4. Global and china domestic sewage production need to be incorporate in Introduction.

5. The magnitude of benefits need to be explicit based on the present investigation.

6. Conclusion need to be improved based on the suggestion 5.
