Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper presents an interesting study of a slope stability with inclined layers of material exposed to the effect of seismic loading. In the presented analysis, the interface between soil layers is modeled, which often occurs as fault zones in the rock mass. An analysis of the sensitivity of the structure exposed to the effect of seismic loading was carried out. A very interesting analysis of the dynamic amplification effect was conducted.

Specific comments and suggestions are given below:

·        In line 340 the authors refer to the results in Section 4, which should be in Section 3.

·        In line 391, the text should refer to equation 19 instead of equation 18.

·        Should line 395 refer to equation 7?

·        In line 424, the text break should be corrected.

Reviewer 2 Report

The presented manuscript is very interesting and practical. For the quality of the article to be as good as possible, it requires the necessary improvements. The most important things are:

     -  The sentences are too long, and the context is difficult to understand (abstract line 13, page 94, line 81). Authors should rewrite the sentences to be reader-friendly.

2   -  Do the colours in the presented model correspond to different types of rocks/layers, or is this one type of rock/layer? The given physical and mechanical parameters apply to the entire model (table 1). What influenced the choice of such values?

3 - Descriptions in figure 2a are not in English.

   - It is not obvious: “... that the seismic wave amplitude and holding time are positively correlated with the magnitude of the slope displacement” (page 9, line 236). The authors should write a few words of comment.
