Energy business initiatives for grid connected solar photovoltaic systems: An overview

Comments

The review gives the overall developments in the photovoltaic industry. It connects well in between the research and industry. Here are the comments/suggestions.

  1. In the introduction please give a briefing of each section of the manuscript.  Also an index which shows all the sections in the manuscript.
  2. Table.1, the study can be modified as Reference.
  3. Preferably, it will be good if the authors include some images, which are any of the related ones,  from other journals with permission in each session. it will be more convenient for the readers.
  4. it will be good if the authors separate the sessions “Conclusion and Policy Implications”

Reviewer 2 Report

I would like to recommend this work after a minor revision. Please have a look on the comments below for detail.

Comment to the author

This overview presented about the adoption extent of the energy business models around the world by considering both the developed and developing countries, with the emphasis on the customer-side renewable energy business model.  The review also showed the adoptable trend in energy business initiatives where in the developed countries have greatly adopted energy business initiatives to advance distributed generation of electricity from renewable energy resources, while developing countries are struggling and/or failed to record significant success. Also, developing countries are shifting from customer-owned energy business initiatives to the community-shared energy business initiatives to enhance prosumer generated energy self-consumption. The policy implication was also provided in detail. I would like to recommend this overview after a minor revision. Please find the comments below for detail.

1.      The reasons why “the developed countries had greatly adopted energy business initiatives to advance distributed generation of electricity from renewable energy resources” need to be further clarify. What kind of renewable energy sources have been distributed in the developed countries. And a short definition of “renewable energy” should be added.

2.      In the line 232, the author state that “The concept of CSEB has not yet been embraced by the governments in the developing countries…….” please provide the reason or current status relevant to the state.

3.      In Figure 7, The store-on Grid Modal Canvas for the Energy Business Initiative need to be improved the visual aids.  The different color on the arrows might provide the stronger effect on the Value Proposition? Please make it clear in this point.

Reviewer 3 Report

The paper gives an overview of Energy business initiatives for grid-connected solar photovoltaic systems and well discussed the following points

-Examines the existent billing schemes for energy business models and causes for their opposition from the stakeholders

-Discusses the uniqueness of the store-on grid scheme from the existent billing schemes and its suitability to replace the existing billing schemes.

-Discusses appropriate approaches that the developing countries could adopt to succeed in the adoption of energy business models.

I really appreciate the Authors for this valuable work and I have some minor comments

1. The reviewer suggests adding the advantages and disadvantages of the Energy Business Models for Solar PV in Table 1 or clearly stated in the following sections

2. Adding the recommendation in a separate section

3. The overall work is comprehensive and will add value to the science and community.
