The article carries out an analysis of the population changes of the . It uses time series of abundances, as well as the sizes as indicators of the impact of the extraction and environmental on the species.

I consider that the analyzes are adequate and provide valuable information that should be published.

Reviewer 3 Report

The study by Cambodian authors of the Mekong striped catfish population is relevant and important, since the Mekong River is the largest river in Southeast Asia. It is located in the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Zone and supports one of the most diverse fish faunas in the world.

The striped catfish was a very important fish species in Cambodia. In recent years, their numbers have decreased significantly. This article indicates that the species needs protection both for adults and juveniles.                                                                                     It would be nice to give photographs of larvae, juveniles and adults of striped catfish.

Dear authors,

I liked your manuscript. I propose only small changes, which are presented below.

I propose a concise title that will be understood by a wider audience of readers: Population Status of an Endangered Striped Сatfish Pangasianodon hypopthalmus in the Mekong River, Cambodia

Abstract

7 line from above - it is better to replace the word sources with the term parameter - property or indicator of an object or system that can be measured.

Changes in the Mekong’s flow that affect the flood index (extent and duration of flood) in the Tonle Sap floodplain are likely key factors driving the decline of the wild populations of the striped catfish.

- The sentence doesn't seem quite right. I suggest to remove the fragment that affect the flood index.

Introduction

In addition, the Mekong River supports many migratory fishes, including Pangasiid catfishes [9–12]

- The Latin name of the family must be inserted before the brackets, a dot is required after the bracket.
