Introduction

·         Line 64-72 – briefly explain other nanoparticles type.

·         Add the aim of this review paper

DES in nanoparticles synthesis – by using a data summarizing in table, emphasize the operational conditions from previous study in synthesizing NPs.

Line 205-206 and throughout the paper: check references source

Application of DES NPs in wastewater treatment

·         This section should be explained in detail such as wastewater conditions, analytical parameter of wastewater, removal performance, etc. the data should be summarized in table and depth discuss. Basically, wastewater characteristic is main factor for a performance of wastewater treatment unit. This should be highlighted in order to convince reader the potential of NPs synthesis using DES.

Future perspectives

·         Elaborate more specifically the NPs-DES potential for wastewater treatment.

·         Explain the challenge of using NPs-DES in wastewater treatment and how to cater the challenge.

Author Response

Introduction

  • Line 64-72 – briefly explain other nanoparticles type.

Answer: This review is centered only on the type of nanoparticles synthesized in the presence of Deep eutectic solvents. More information about the use of these types of nanoparticles in the photocatalytic process is included.

  • Add the aim of this review paper

Answer: Thank you for the suggestion, the aim of this review was included at the end of the introduction section.

DES in nanoparticles synthesis – by using a data summarizing in table, emphasize the operational conditions from previous study in synthesizing NPs.

Answer: It was included more information about the used method for a specific case of the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (line 169-174). Also Figure 2 was modified to show more information about the methodology commonly used for the nanoparticle synthesis

Line 205-206 and throughout the paper: check references source.

Answer: The references were checked

Application of DES NPs in wastewater treatment

  • This section should be explained in detail such as wastewater conditions, analytical parameter of wastewater, removal performance, etc. the data should be summarized in table and depth discuss. Basically, wastewater characteristic is main factor for a performance of wastewater treatment unit. This should be highlighted in order to convince reader the potential of NPs synthesis using DES.

Answer: Thanks for this recommendation. We have added more information regarding, maximum adsorption capacities, and optimal removal conditions in the application column of our tables.

Future perspectives

  • Elaborate more specifically the NPs-DES potential for wastewater treatment.

Answer: This section was elaborated as suggested.

Comments

1. Abstract should be elaborately

2.  In A introduction section line 42-43, the authors include more metal oxides synthesis and preparation methods and etc, For examples,  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cplett.2022.139817; https://doi.org/10.1016/j.saa.2022.121250;

3. The author mention for advantages and disadvantages of Photocatalytic materials

4.  Line 374, in a conclusion section should be elaborately.

5. Reference 63, Fe3O4@MIP can be modifying to the subscript.

6. Several typo and topo graphical errors are there so please modified it.

7. Section 2, DES nanoparticles synthesis part please explained every step in all methods.

Author Response

  1. Abstract should be elaborately

Answer: A paragraph “Modification and synthesis of carbon nanotubes, graphene oxides, and magnetic iron oxides, among others, for the adsorption and degradation of organic dyes, pharmaceuticals, metal ions, herbicides, pesticides, and other water contaminants can be found in recent literature” was added to the abstract to highlight the specific applications found in the literature.

  1. In A introduction section line 42-43, the authors include more metal oxides synthesis and preparation methods and etc, For examples: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cplett.2022.139817; https://doi.org/10.1016/j.saa.2022.121250;

Answer: The mentioned references were included and the introduction was revised in detail.

  1. The author mentions for advantages and disadvantages of Photocatalytic materials

Answer: Some advantages were already mentioned in lines 68-70 and the number of pollutants that can be treated via photocatalysis in lines 75-78. However, a new contribution was added in lines 72-74:

…”In terms of real applications, taking advantage of the UV radiation derived from solar light can be one of the main reasons for the photocatalytic treatment of certain pollutants.”…

Likewise, some disadvantages were indicated in the main document about the need for filtration after treatment when using photocatalytic nanoparticles or the electron-hole recombination in lines 85-90. Yet, an additional piece of text was added in lines 81-84, as follows:

…”the crystalline phase of the semiconductor plays a key role in the way ·OH radicals are generated. For instance, Hwang et al. [21] indicated for TiO2 that anatase works better during photocatalytic mineralization of non-adsorbing organic pollutants than rutile. It thus limits the nanoparticle synthesis towards a suitable crystalline phase.”…

  1. Line 374, in a conclusion section should be elaborately.

Answer: The conclusion was revised and corrected, for instance, the paragraph “In conclusion, with further research and development, for extending the scope to more nanoparticle systems and better controlling the NPs’s properties, the potential industrial applications of DES-mediated nanoparticles are eminent and promising. They would represent a valuable contribution to the development of sustainable technologies, including, water treatment.” Was added.

  1. Reference 63, Fe3O4@MIP can be modifying to the subscript.

Answer: It was corrected.

  1. Several typo and topo graphical errors are there so please modified it.

Answer: It was corrected.

  1. Section 2, DES nanoparticles synthesis part please explained every step in all methods.

Answer: It was included more information about the used method for a specific case of the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (line 169-174). Also Figure 2 was modified to show more information about the methodology commonly used for the nanoparticle synthesis.

Reviewer 4 Report

The title of the article does not reflect the content very well. Most of the presented applications relate to wastewater treatment.

Technical shortcomings - in many places there are no references to drawings and literature (Reference source not found)

Carelessly written chemical formulas (KMNO4, MNO2, PB(II)... instead of KMnO4, MnO2, Pb(II)...)
