Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Does digital transformation improve corporate carbon performance?

After reviewing your manuscript, I have some concerns about the quality of the writing and the clarity of the novelty of your research. When evaluating papers for publication, it is important to look for manuscripts that make a significant contribution to the literature and advance knowledge in a meaningful way. While your paper examines how digital transformation improves corporate carbon performance, it does not identify a research question or offer unique solutions in terms of methodology and results that could inform the best policies and practices. It is crucial to clarify where the gaps are in the literature and demonstrate how your research helps to address them.

The abstract does not provide sufficient details about the background of the topic, research methods and their benefits, and results. This section must be improved. Also please try to make your abstract more accessible in a non-technical language.

Emphasis on big general ideas including originality and clearer contribution concerning the literature: making your research appealing to a broad audience is an important goal of this journal.

Also, there should be more nuance in explaining why your proposed model is of interest, which will help you develop tighter theoretical arguments. Developing your core research issues will almost certainly necessitate that you carefully identify an important research problem and clarify your key arguments.

Authors have tried to demonstrate their prowess over the method without digging deeper into the results. If the findings do not challenge the persisting policies in Chinese A-share listed firms, then how the study is contributing to the literature? If the findings corroborate the persisting policies, then the study is redundant.

The discussions of the results are contradictory in various places. Please revisit this section thoroughly. The presence of contradictions in the impacts of the variables indicates the dichotomy in the directions provided by the authors, and it makes the overall estimation unreliable.

Results should not be discussed again in the Conclusion. Avoid doing it completely

I read the paper carefully, I saw some language issues in the manuscript. Therefore, I recommend to proofread this paper from an English language expert.

Thank you so much for carryout the work that aligns two areas environment and digital transformation. it is important to investigate the impact of Digital transformation on the environment. I like reading about your paper. and i have few obserbations:

(1) The title can be without questions...Role of Digital Transformation on Carbon Footprints of organizations: A Study from China using Panel data

(2) Abstract is written well and can not you have data till 2022? or data is available until 2020? Also mention the sample size in the abstract.

(3) Introduction is written well

(4) The liteature review needs little attention incorporating the recent literature.  For example: the recent study based on similar data on yunan proviance..Xie, B., Jones, P., Dwivedi, R., Bao, L. and Liang, R., 2023. Evaluation, comparison, and unique features of ecological security in southwest China: A case study of Yunnan Province. Ecological Indicators153, p.110453.

Digital transformation is also causing other problems related to reduction of manpower reduction. that is saving ecology but human unemployment is biggest issue..

Dwivedi, P., Dwivedi, R., Yoshikuni, A.C., Xie, B. and Naik, B., 2023. Role of Digitalization in Business Process to Reduce Manpower: A Case of Human Resource Management Process. International Journal of Economics & Business Administration11(1).

The third important issue which is missing from Stakeholder perspectives of the digital transformation. How digital transformation can impact each partner in the business model. and explaining the from a stakeholder perspective would imporve the quality of the communication.

Please incorporate 2023 recent work in the citations.

(4) it will be great to demonstrate the methodology in the flow chart or flow daigram and that will make readibility and understanding the work easy for researchers.

(5) Present result with useful and useless indicators in the paper of the model

(6) should have limitations sections and scope for further research.

all the best
