Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The author has presented a detailed investigation on numerical analysis of effective of horizontal drain for water drainage from slope soil under rainfall condition. The work presented is as per the journal standards and can be accepted for publication. However, the author should incorporate the following comment in the manuscript for better understanding of the research for the readers. The authors should re-write the conclusion avoiding long sentences which make it in-convinient to the readers. 2. Can the results of the study be validated from the previous literature ? The validation of the numerical model developed will provide a great insight on the results and field applicability of the developed model. therefore the authors are requested to validate the numerical models using data from the available literature. 3. The authors are also requested to proof read the manuscript carefully, so that  grammatical and punctuation issues can be eliminated. 4. The authors are requested to elaborate the abstract and mention the inclination angle and position of the subsoilpipes for better performance of horizontal drains. 5. Does the result of the study be applicable to all soil type? What are the major  classification of soil this study results can be applied to ? What change in result can be  seen with the change in soil types? 6. Apart form the inclination angle and position of the horizontal drains will the inclination angle of the slope and shear strength of soil influence the result ? What change will be observed for high strength soil and for low strength soil ?

1.      Numerical modeling is widely utilized for assessing geotechnical problems and devising countermeasures. What sets this article/technical note apart and serves as its unique contribution?

2.      Merely assuming a scenario and presenting numerical modeling results does not suffice for this study.

3.      Address a real-world geotechnical problem and integrate the numerical modeling results within the context of those specific circumstances.

4.      Validate your model and conduct parametric analysis to ensure its accuracy and reliability.

5.      Explain the criteria used by the authors for selecting input parameters and provide the rationale behind these choices.

6.      Analyze your results in conjunction with relevant literature to establish their significance and applicability.

7.      The authors draw conclusions based on the results of numerical modeling. To what extent can these findings be considered reliable for real-world applications?

8.      Field or laboratory tests are essential to validate the outcomes of numerical modeling.

Thank you for your constructive feedback on our manuscript. We appreciate the time and effort you took to review our work.

We have carefully addressed the comments you provided and have made the necessary revisions to our manuscript. Specifically, regarding your observation about Figure 5: We have noticed the oversight regarding the missing parts (k) and (l) in Figure 5. We apologize for this oversight and have now updated the figure to include these parts.

We believe that with these revisions, our manuscript has been improved and hope it meets the standards for publication. We are open to any further suggestions or feedback you may have.

Thank you once again for your valuable insights.

There is not enough improvement to make the document ready for publication. The conclusion is always based on the results of the study without references.
