Dear Reviewer,
Thank you very much for giving us the opportunity to revise the manuscript and for your valuable comments and suggestions on the manuscript.
We have mainly rewritten the 'Introduction' section and added a 'Literature Review' as a separate section. The data sources have been added and the web address has been included.
The 'Research methods' and 'Discussion' sections have been explained and revised. The language of the article has been revised and spelling errors have been corrected.
Based on the issues you pointed out, we have revised and improved the manuscript one by one.

This is an important guide for all my future research work.

Reviewer 2 Report

The paper is good, it just need a minor revision.

Dear Authors,

I enjoyed revising your paper and I think your work is original and very interesting.

I found few little issues.

p. 1, lines 25-26. This phrase is unclear: “Yuan (1279-1368A.D.), Ming (1368-1644A.D.) and the Qing Dynasty (1644-25 1911 A.D.) were the fastest period for traditional China villages.”

p. 2, line 46. Is “Nucharat” right? Isn’t it “Nuchatlaht”?

p. 2 line 86. Consider adding a sub-paragraph to clarify the aims of the study and separate it from the historical introduction.

p. 4. Overall, you should clarify the meaning of hot and cold spots in your analysis.

p. 8, par. 3.2.2. Please consider producing a better visualization for “ancient cities distances” since Fi. 6 is not so clear. Maybe you just need to modify the legend…

I think this work brings new value to the scientific community, and I suggest a minor review.
