This study has carried out an assessment of the ecological value of water in western Hunan, which is very indicative and has been able to attract public attention, and is generally good, with the following suggested changes：
1. Some statements are not clearly described，the language need further edited by the English native speaker.
2. Keywords need to be listed in alphabetical order，Please also consider whether your keywords are representative enough for your article.
3. Introduction part of the introduction is not clean enough, only a general introduction, need to review more papers to find the actual data to prove that the current study is not enough, Please list previous studies on moss re-greening mines.
4. Study Area part, Please provide more background data on the study area, e.g. vegetation type, vegetation cover, etc., so that it is more useful for other model researchers to make use of your article.
5. There are many ways to calculate the value of ecological services, do you use “Market price proxies”, why other methods do not apply and please explain the advantages of your calculation method in the region.
6. The discussion section is not sufficient and should cite relevant studies for comparative analysis, comparing whether the value of ecological services is high or low in other places, what are the uniqueness and what are the implications for ecological compensation.

This is a short paper with low scientific soundness. Authors do not provide enough data documentation. The research scheme is not entirely clear. There are spelling mistakes in the manuscript, please check and correct (i.e line 76, 140, 152, 156, 416, 417,418). Additionally, the written English of this manuscript needs to be rephrased.
